I'm shocked if this is true. I really rated Johnson as a player, but this is terrible. I can't condone it, and if true I think his football career should be finished...

Tbh nothing would surprise me where professional footballers are concerned. The vast majority, IMO are either utterly thick, or arrogant, and often both.

Re: Adam Johnson
Before jumping on the bandwagon it could be worthwhile waiting for more information, as I suspect he could well have been duped by the girl and had no idea she was under age.
So many young girls look so much older than they are and behave much older too. It's not unusual for 15/16 yr old girls to be out drinking in bars and night clubs and it could well be he's been misled.
I may be completely wrong and he could well have abused some inocent young girl and if this is the case I'd be more than happy to see him locked up and the keys thrown away for a few years.

Suspicion is the key word here, may be innocent yet!

I'm with Charnwood here. Patience is the answer here until all the facts are out.
I very nearly got caught out with something like this before so I know it's possible. It all depends on whether he is the type of character to ignore it.

Probably wise to let due process take it's course before either condemning or speculating.

Re: Adam Johnson
This would appear the best case scenario. Girls in bars that look legal age (and in fact aren't) are a dime a dozen and seems Johnson is just another example of being duped. The intercourse was consensual above all else where nothing was forced so it would appear merely the player got caught out and there was no malicious intent, so guess this'll be cleared up soon enough. It won't be the first instance of it, (and) it won't be the last.Charnwood wrote:Before jumping on the bandwagon it could be worthwhile waiting for more information, as I suspect he could well have been duped by the girl and had no idea she was under age.
