The next four games in The Championship;
Has anyone else noticed that all Championship teams will play their next four games either three at home and one away, or three away and one at home, all in the space of 11 days.
Looking at each of the top teams this is what the fixtures look like between Good Friday (3 April ) and 14 April.
Bournemouth: 3 away at Ipswich, Brighton & Reading + 1 at home v Birmingham. (73)
Watford: 3 away at Derby, Millwall & Notts Forest + 1 at home v Middlesbrough. (72)
Middlesbrough: 3 at home v Wigan, Rotherham & Woves + 1 away at Watford. (72)
Norwich: 3 away at Birmingham, Bolton & Leeds + 1 at home v Sheffield Wednesday. (70)
Derby: 3 at home v Watford, Brentford & Blackpool + 1 away at Wigan. (67)
Ipswich: 3 at home v Bournemouth, Blackpool & Cardiff + 1 away at Huddersfield. (67)
Brentford: 3 away at Fulham, Derby & Sheff Wed + 1 at home v Notts Forest. (66)
Wolves: 3 away at Notts Forest, Birmingham & Middlesbrough + 1 at home v Leeds. (65)
I think these next four fixtures give us an excellent opportunity to move up to 5th place, close the gap on Norwich and pull away from Brentford and Wolves.
All guesswork I know but I can see the table looking something like this after these games have been played:
Bournemouth 81
Middlesbrough 80
Watford. 79
Norwich. 78
Ipswich. 77
Derby. 75
Wolves. 71
Brentford. 69
Take a look to see if you think I'm being realistic or optimistic, but with three games to play this would be a great position to be in especially given that those teams currently looking forward to playing three out of four at home will have to finish the season with two out of three away.
It certainly looks like a dog fight at the top.

That would indeed be a great position to be in and it could well happen, if we can get a win against Bournemouth it could even be better than that. All still very much to play for. We certainly have some favourable fixtures there compared to some of the other teams, on paper at least.

The 3 games after Bournemouth are must win if we want to stand any chance of the Playoffs. Huddersfield and Blackpool should be pretty straight forward wins and Cardiff well we always do well against them.

Thinking about going to Huddersfield as it's on my birthday (hint, hint!
) but don't want to put the mockers on things. Also, when I went there the other year for the 0-0 game it was so cold I'm sure my wotsits froze!

Plus of course Huddersfield are one of those teams with three away games out of four with their only one at home against us, I suspect winning that game will be quite important to them.

Town certainly are one of those teams looking forward to three home games which was exactly my point, as was the fact that it would be nice to create a gap between us the teams behind us before we go into the final three games, two of which are to be played away.
I'm not sure what question you're asking me to answer?

Re: The next four games in The Championship;
The thing is with the final Three games it could just work in our favour, Forest will almost certainly be out of the play off picture by then and the players hopefully all but on holiday, Blackburn are out of it already and there is a tiny chance they could be looking at a cup final, doubtful I know but possible, that leaves Wolves who could also have just had ther play off bubble burst although that particular game could be massive but for me it is written in the stars that MM returns to Wolves and does a job on the club that sacked him.

Got ya, sorry didnt read it the right way first time round. Yeah lets hope we can bag those points at home and get a bit of breathing space running into final gamesCharnwood wrote:ipswichtownNo1 wrote:Are town not one of those teams looking forward to 3 home games? Re: The next four games in The Championship;
Would have prefered to be playing Bournemouth this weekend but that can't be helped now. Especially after the euphoria of last Saturday it was important to keep games coming thick and fast. Looking ahead at the next four games as the author put it :
Bournemouth Home - They're a good side for sure and not in a false position. The home crowd will play a pivotal part on the day and with enough heart and desire we can take the victory. Everyone will be aware of how important this game is and hopefully the team will rise to the occasion. WIN
Blackpool Home - Easy to forget they were an EPL team only a year or two ago. Now in danger of a fall to the third tier so they'll have something to play for as much as ourselves. Hopefully we'll want it more. WIN
Cardiff Home - Seems they have little to play for. Home venue, partizan support, the need for points, it all adds up to a Town victory. Or so you would believe. WIN
Huddersfield Away - Maybe they got some level of a relegation threat but it's unlikely they'll go down this year. As before the opposition have the greater need. Not sure (however) if Town will win it so playing safe on points shared. DRAW
Still keeping Blackburn on the last day well in sight because, as before, it was the venue in 1994 when a result on the last day caused celebration and scenes of Ipswich jubilation. (It wasn't the only stadia that day that saw similar scenes with it's respective support)
