What action is taken against Montenegro following the incident with the Russian goalkeeper yesterday.
Could imagine what outcry there would have been if England fans had been involved in such an incident. Player safety has to always be paramount.

Russian keeper hit by flare thrown from the crowd.
The match was abandoned in the 2nd Half when a brawl broke out between the players after Russia missed a penalty and again a missle was thrown from the crowd and struck a Russian player.

Hardly unique is it. Incidents like these are commonplace even today and while the UK may have moved on from the behavior of the 1970s and 80s, unsavory examples will remain prevalent in places say South America or other parts of Europe. Soccer violence will never be eradicated in some parts of the world. It's a fact you have to face.

Although soccer violence may never be eradicated in some parts of the world you can not just turn a blind eye to it.
Do the authorities just wait until a player is maimed or worse still killed from incidents such as throwing flares before acting?

Surely the fans should of been searched beforehand and any flares taken away?, Not saying what happened is right but better security measures could of prevented this.

I have been to that stadium twice to watch England play Montenegro.
We were given strict instructions on what could and could not be taken into the stadium and flares were one of those on the list of banned items. Every England fan was searched thoroughly to ensure no banned items were taken in by us as we went through the turnstiles Needless to say when we got inside the stadium flares were being let off by the Montenegro supporters.
Ukraine in 2009 when England played there in a World Cup qualifier was another place where their fans decided to throw flares into the penalty area and Rob Green was having to dodge them. Even at the new Wembley there has been instances where flares have been brought into the ground when England have played eastern European sides but this appears to have been clamped down on recently as haven't seen them lately.
One of these days can see something going horribly wrong if the practice of throwing them on the pitch whilst the game is being played continues.

Wouldn't worry about Rob Green, Shed. He's good at dodging footballs,...... Brightly lit, noisy flares would be a doddle.

Tell you what it is about the only time I've felt sorry for the bloke. He really did look sh*t scared. The best part about that game was they kept us England supporters in after the game for an hour and The Ukrainian cheerleaders were practicing their new routines after the game.
Needless to say our lot gave them every encouragement!
