Just been announced that one of our own has passed aged 79.
Best wishes to his family.
He was in the armed forces and still playing amateur level when the legendary Ipswich Town manager Alf Ramsey spotted him. He turned professional with Ipswich in May 1956. During his career at Portman Road, he made oyver 250 appearances. He was ever-present in the side that won the League Championship in 1961-62, having previously won the Third Division South Championship in 1957 and the Division Two Championship in 1960-61.

R.I.P. Larry. There can't be many left of that team anymore.

He was a regular in the first town team I used to watch regularly as a kid. Bailey, Carberry, Compton etc, Baxter, Nelson, Elsworthy... Stephenson, Moran, Crawford, Phillips & Leadbetter.
Does anyone know how many of these are still living, I'd have thought at least half of them?
RIP Mr Carberry, I'm sure many town fans of my generation will have fond memories of you.
Condolences to your family.

Was part of a few that achieved a success that may never be repeated at this club.
Sympathies to his immediate family at this difficult time.
