Tighten up!!
I think MM needs to work on the defence a bit, we seem to be shifting goals. 6 in two friendlies!!

Re: Tighten up!!
We are playing half of games with Kenlock, Yorwerth, Hammond, Emmanual and Robinson all getting game time at the back derick, it is all about giving them the chance to show what they can do, MM is hardly taking these games seriously where results are concerned. We have some really good kids coming through, we also have been without the services of Berra for some games and Parr for a couple too so it really isnt anything to have a pop at them over.
I do however feel a couple of more experienced defenders added to the squad would be a good thing. I would also like to see what is regarded as the first choice Eleven play the majority of the remaining Three friendlies so they can start to blend as a team, all these changes every game don't allow for that but it does get all the players match fit.

Even when were winning people still moan...
I wouldn't read much in these results anyway, all about match fitness. Start shipping goals in the league then it would be a concern.

Yea, I put as much stock in these games as I do in the NFL pre-season games. A bunch of players in those games who probably wont even be on the squad

Like I said they need to tighten up. No bunch of youngsters in this 3-2 defeat at Colchester.J4ck22 wrote:They're friendlies with youngsters making up half our team. Come on now...

So when we conceded the last two goals, Emmanuel, Kenlock and Yorwerth made up our back line, they dont constitue youngsters ?derick_ipsw wrote:Like I said they need to tighten up. Same Old / Same Old: Wait till we play Derby Away - then we will know how good we are. Till then we can still take comfort from whatever excuses seem viable. Sorry to be a pessimist, but a bit of realism is required. Nothing ever changes at ITFC; one half decent players out – a few mediocre players and journeymen in / couple of youngsters with potential + a few honest professionals fighting to get a better deal - wherever they can. This is why ITFC is not a target club for those seeking to make advancement. The idea of pre season is to hone your best team ready to hit the ground running. Playing guys unlikely to feature again in the season is pointless (this has happened so many times in the past) and we all know that ITFC would not recognise a good young player if he scored 6 and made 7. The premiership is littered with our castoffs.

I didnt realise I reacted in any way other than pointing out that we did in fact play youngsters, I am perfectly chilled thanks, it appears others are wetting themselves because we lost at colchester, I certainly am not, it is hard to beat any team with a splattering of academy kids on the field.

Re: Tighten up!!
I can't argue at being disappointed but it is MM himself who is contributing to these performances/results, he persists in fielding weakened teams and making wholesale changes.
But lets not get too down about it all, after all Brentford lost 2-1 to Luton who are a League below Colchester and by all accounts played a lot of there first team/new signings.

Re: Tighten up!!
I think MM knew his best team weeks ago he just needs to strengthen the squad. The idea for pre season is fitness and identifying who could step in if we get injuries to the established players. Also the half decent player we sold for 8 million was one of those guys unlikely to feature 2 seasons ago. Likewise with Bishop and the next to step up I predict is Emmanuel.Domhide wrote:Same Old / Same Old: Wait till we play Derby Away - then we will know how good we are. As with any Championship club if a premiership club comes calling your not going to keep the player they are after hence they move on. Not sure the premiership is littered with our players though? Two come to mind with one of them yet to kick a ball.
I'm of the view that the club is now being run correctly and at the same time making obvious progress. MM has created a team that is now producing players that are attracting interest which is another sign of the positive impact he is having on the club. I'd rather be where we are now than before MM came on board.
Who knows how the season will pan out but MM has been around long enough to know how best to manage pre season. He pretty much has the same pre season program each year and we have improved each of the seasons he has been with us.
