Was just thinking about the players we've got in this summer. Surely Mick has surpassed himself yet again with the quality he's got in through the door either on a permanent or loan basis.

Pitman - free
Fraser - SLL
Jonas - £350k
Douglas - free tbc
AMN - SLL

Academy players emerging
Emmanual

Future (imminent? ) signings

RB
CMF
CB

It's good to see some new faces. But I'll reserve judgement on the quality until I've seen a bit more of them.
I'm still a bit worrried about our defence if I'm honest.

I think most of us are hopeful of MM pulling an experienced defensive rabbit - ideally right footed - out of the bag! Come on, Mick - continue to surprise us (in a good way, of course).
:)

Like others I think one more right footed defender is needed. I wouldn't mind one more winger if I'm honest.... But I think MM will wait for Reg to be back.

Yes I think it has been a very productive Summer without spending much dosh yet again, obviously Andy is right in that we need to see more of them before we know how successful it has been but in Pitman, Fraser, Maitland-Niles and Knudsen we know we have Four very good players into the club and that is pleasing, the others look solid back up, add to this the resurgence of Didsy which will be like a massive new signing should he keep it up and things are indeed rosy.

Whilst I like some of the summer signings I'm someway off believing these are the best close season signings we've ever had. I think that's a tad overstated personally.

Who do you think are better Charney? I suppose I should have qualified it more by saying brought in by MM

I can't think of any better than Pitman and Fraser for possible game changers. You could argue McGoldrick but we've seen so little of him for nearly two seasons.it feels like we aremmoving forward at speed now we have wingers and a front man to partner Murphy who also scores at will (Pitman).

Whilst I can't think of better "summer signings" off the top of my head I'm pretty sure over the pre MM years we've had some more exciting signings. However since funds have become tight the signings have become less exciting and with your added qualification your statement could prove correct.

We'll know the answer next May - but no doubt MM/ME have been astute in their dealings, with the squad strengthened, both in terms of numbers and quality. The added options of width and pace - critical assets in the Cship - are a major advance; and with a fit and focussed Didsy in the mix there's cause for real optimism.

Interestingly, Dallas apparently cost Leeds £1.25M - effectively outbidding us for his signature. Although he is a quality player, presumably MM/ME didn't believe he was significantly better than what we now have, and therefore were not prepared to enter a bidding war. Sensible. Will be interesting to see how our reported interest in Jordan McGee plays out - allegedly, a couple of bids lodged, but as yet some way apart from Hearts' valuation. (Well, they know all about the Mings money, and they are canny Scots!). Will depend upon how much MM wants to bring him in.
