I'm pretty sure I saw DH playing for Town.....but I as stood down at the front of the North Stand with my hands and nose just managing to peep over the wall ...being about 11 yr old..

Just saw this on TWTD, just as what promises to be a very exciting season is about to start we lose a former player, sad news. RIP.

One of my Town idols, he was such a great character and a brilliant Town player. Always wore the no8 shirt as best I recall. These were the days when I first used to watch every game Town played and remenember his so well.

RIP Danny, you will be remembered so fondly by those Town fans in your era.

Of course he did, I'd forgotten that he followed Bill McGarry to the Wolves.

He was another who never fulfilled his potential when he left for Wolves, but I think he came back a la Ray Crawford style.

Great little player and character to boot.

Cracking player. I sometimes thought that he was on a totally different planet to everyone else on the pitch - his mesmerising runs leaving a trail of bewildered defenders in his trail, long sleeved shirt always with the cuffs pulled over his hands - a total joy to watch. His one weakness was that his shooting could be a bit unpredictable. His penalty kicks were either in the back of the net before the goalkeeper had moved or back of the stand!

yeah he played in one of our better periods., question you might know Charnwood, when Bill McGarry joined us from the Town did he bring Sammy Chung the trainer from Ipswich as well or was he from another team. I always thought he did,

yeah life watching your team was so simple then Mike, gates opened at 12 midday, first come first served. rarely had to buy tickets,
anyone could win the league or get relegated. footballers earned just above the standard wage,

only down was it was at the height of the running battles and had to keep yer wits about you.
but I'd still swap those days for the actors now.

your Mick still has those standards of "its a mans game" if he ever was allowed to manage one of the Chelsea's, Man City or the likes
I'd love to see how he would handled the possers , or better still how would they handle him...

how we ever let him go is one of life's mystery's.

Not to change the subject, Wolfie, but I've got a memory from the mid 70's of being at Easter Road, seeing lightening winger Arthur Duncan race up the right wing with the ball, only to be emptied by Rangers defender, Ally Dawson. Arthur went flying through the air. He landed and then got up, no fuss, no worries.
Today, he would've rolled into the digital advertising boarding, clutching both of his legs and looking like someone had rammed a bowling ball up his arse.

Our winger David Wagstaff used to get kicked all over the park but he just carried on. I remember Asa Hartford trying to break his leg in one tackle at the poorthorns. Mike Bailey chopped 2 inches of Hartford's height in the next tackle..
