Beg to differ Lucy. In the second half we threw away a 2 goal lead in 3 minutes. Just please tell me how that is brilliant, I'd love to know.

We gave them 2 goals but for 45 minutes we played our socks off.

that won't count for anything at the end of the season though - points make prizes

Like Mike has been saying if Bru hadn't of gone off injured we'd of sailed through. It's game 1 of a new season give the guys a chance first before you put them down.

I'm not putting anybody down. As to your comment to Derek of 'did you go to the game', it does not matter if somebody went to the game or not - if he didn't go I'm sure that he listened to the game online and his opinion is as valid as yours or anybody else's.
Oh, and by the way, you still have not explained how conceding 2 goals in injury time constitutes 'playing brilliantly'. ;)

A Mick quote from Dericks link; "We just can't let that happen again."

I do wonder how he's going to address it. Especially if he himself is actually the problem.

I'm not jumping on that bandwagon though. It's all "what if"bullshit with regards to the subs...... If he didn't make subs and then that happened, he'd get slated for not making subs. It's a managers world.

The fact is, the players f**king shat a brick in defence in the 94th minute and they should carry the can for it. Complete lack of concentration, probably listening for the final whistle. Very irritating.

You can play brilliantly in 90 minutes and still lose. The point Lucy is making is don't judge the season on a lack of concentration in the dying moments of a game we controlled. Put it into context. We got a point against a good team which we should have won and controlled the majority of the game.

We had a back four with two new full backs, one making his competitive debut and one who has only played a handful of minutes of gametime with the team. With Berra and Parr to return we now have competition for places at the back which will help us improve through the season.

Lets see where we are after about 10 games before overreacting to a lack of concentration in the dying minutes of one game. It's frustrating yes but overall it was a good performance, whether the result was palatable or not.

I quite agree. Some of the comments on this and other threads are quite laughable. To make such comments after just one match is beyond me.

I do not mean to be too cynical but it is what it is at the end of the day. We got a point rather than 3. We seem to concede in the latter stages of many games we are well in control of . Looking forward to more wins if we can eliminate this "hanging on" syndrome us fans are used to. Onwards and upwards.

Very well said, as Billy says some of the comments you read beggar belief, I accept everyone is entitled to an opinion but at times I really do wonder why people bother following the Town at all, I don't give a damn what anyone else says or thinks because yesterday was a very good performance against a good team on their own patch and the very fact we are disappointed with a point speaks volumes.

Yes it does because I have enough of a brain to form my own opinion on what I have SEEN, as opposed to sitting in my rocking chair and reading papers/ reviews online etc, those are the people who shout the loudest and moan the most.

Have to agree with Billy and bluemike on this one. It feels like a defeat after coming so close, but most of us would gladly have taken a point from this tricky away match. We will hopefully learn and learn quick after switching off at the end.
We will get better and controlling the game for so long against a bloody good team is not to be sniffed at. Well done you blues, now lets make our home games count.

It really did sound like a great performance, so to just get a point out of it is heartbreaking. You can blame Mick and his subs all you want, but even our worst team should be capable of staying composed and holding off for 5 minutes. We are still making progress, believe it or not.

One game gone, a point away at the pundits fancied top six, and f*ck me the season is already over!!!! We're doomed....absolute utter shyte of a team ......no attacking nounce.....havent got a hope of finishing anywhere other than the bottom three. I bloody despair... Mick McCarthy bloody OUT!

Everybody reacts differently immediately after a game like that. Can only speak for myself, but it's taken me years to gain some semblance of level headedness, (and that's following Hibs).
I love the passion of the "Mick McCarthy outers". Even though I believe they are wrong at this moment in time.

Please don't think I am singling you out Rossi, but what I cannot fathom out is your criticism of MM, yet you rate Tommy Smith. Please forgive me for going on about Tommy Smith, but I just don't get it. When he is being turned inside out by almost every attacker near him, do you not see it? When you see him sh*tting an Edinburgh Castle at corners, are you not seeing it?
That is my only criticism of MM, his TS love.
