England's Future

Post by number 9 » Sun Aug 09, 2015 6:28 pm

It was nice to see West Ham's 16yr old, Reece Oxford get MOM against Arsenal on his professional debut. I'm also looking forward to watching Man City's Patrick Roberts play in the Prem. Who else should we be watching for England's future?

Ps., Marko is not allowed to comment on this thread haha!

I've moved this into football chat so it gets a bit chance of being discussed.

I watched the Arsenal/ West Ham game and that lad Oxford was superb, he is going to be one big talent in the very neat future, at times he controlled the game in Midfield and for one so young was great to see.

The only way Patrick Roberts will get a game is if he is loaned out.

There is not enough English players playing in the premiership. During the summer when the U21's failed once again I believe 7 or 8 of the starting line-up only had championship experience :(

This Oxford lad is a breath of fresh air yes but few and far between. Also him being at West Ham has improved his chances of breaking through quickly. With the big clubs buying up most of the potential in English players the competition is so high that very few make it through and get disillusioned.

Not sure what the answer is but I'm sure something can be done for the younger players. I'm not familiar with the mechanics of it but the American football system could be looked at, enabling smaller clubs to pick the emerging talent, enhancing their chances of breaking through and gaining much needed experience.
