Financial Fair Play???

I'm staggered to see Bristol City have had a £9m bid, yes £9m for Brentford Gray.

I just don't understand how a club like Bristol City who have just been promoted in the Championship and in theory should be on a lower budget can get £9m and spend it like it's peanuts.

The question is how are some of these clubs complying with these Financial Fair Play rules?

As clearly Town are but can't see other clubs doing it...

Who cares, they are bottom, we are top - it's not how much you spend it's how you spend it :)

I don't understand one thing...is financial fair play like a salary cap over here? Meaning each team, say in the NFL, only has a certain amount they can spend on salary for the team?

Yes but the NFL spending cap is at 93 Squillion to the power of 10 billion quadrillion dollars....... And that's only for one player.

Did anything come of QPR's breach of FFP rules?

As AylesburyBlue pointed out to me the other day, maybe it is starting to work more than people realise, take Forest & Blackburn as prime examples, both stuffed under their embargos and both looking destined to struggle big time while finding it hard to keep hold of their better players.

I also think it has worked well for us, we have the best squad we have had in recent years and all this while supposedly under restrictions by sticking to FFP rules, if this is what it does then bring it on as I am all in favour of our club spending nothing while building a squad that I believe are good enough to be right up there come next May and who is to say that should our dream be realised players like Fraser could well become peoper signings.

QPR .!!  FFP is a joke at present, especially as more or less imposed by blackmail by the prem , and then take the parachute payments they have created a totally distorted playing field to protect the top teams and i really believe that to think anything else is a tad blind to be honest , the payments PREM clubs get from the FA takes around 10 years in so called solidarity payments for a champ club and on TV payments..there is no level playing filed and it,s getting more out of sink each year...it,s a joke

FFP is working as a punishment (starting too) but this still won't put all clubs off.

Look at Blacbkburn and Forrest they are both shot to sh*t. Blackburn have no players except Rhodes and Forest are having deals fall through non stop.

The Embargo could be longer yes. BUT these clubs are being forced to only spend 10k a week on wages for any new signing aka why Joey Barton turned down Forrest.

Some clubs will still take a chance but why should we care about that?? Long term we will benefit not them.

Well then Gray turned down Bristol City and signed for Burnley for £9m

So leaves Bristol City £9m to play with...
