But i wonder why so many ex professional footballers tend to die so much younger than the national average?

News came as a real shock, take this opportunity to offer sincere condolences to his immediate family.

Followed Kendall through the 1980s before leaving for Spain in '87 and provided the club with two league championships, three FA Cup Final appearances and a European honor before departing for the aforementioned destination. Wouldn't get away with saying it on their forums but from a personal perspective believe Catterick was a better manager and the best team assembled was say 1966 - 71. Kendall falls that little bit short due to his disastrous third spell in charge and the disappointing second run from circa 1990 - 93.

Despite the ill-advised returns he was one of the greatest managers they saw at Everton and was sorry to learn today the game has lost another high profile and much respected figure.

Thing is two or three years ago this would have generated a much larger interest as was then an ardent follower of the team in question (beginning from the Gordon Lee tenure) but have lost significant interest in their endeavors in the subsequent time, but this was still difficult news to digest. Provided some outstanding memories (in) not just in the 1980's, but in later years, that only followers of the club in question can only appreciate. Pleased to say, was a part of it. Rest in peace

A sad loss at a young age, when ex players who you saw as a kid start to pass away it hits home that time really does move on, condolences to his family.

HK was actually close to becoming Town manager if rumours at the time were correct, unfortunately he supposedly turned up at PR under the the influence of alcohol and the rest is history.

They (Everton) want to put up a statue to honor Mr Kendall and rightly, this should have been done years before this sad event.

Not a long list of club legends, you'd include names such as Dean, Lawton, Southall, Labone, Ted Sagar etc but Kendall deserves to be held in such company. Some don't always realize we was a player back in the 60's before management and won championships both as player and manager at Everton. Last I can recall him at Portman Road was at the 1997 play-off games with Sheffield United. In retrospect should have stayed put for another year at least and not moved back up to Liverpool as the following season was a disaster and very nearly delivered a relegation.

There were many ups and downs with Howard - memories that you can take away forever - and if a statue were put in place, it would be a suitable honor for someone who had such a great impact on one club alone and provided one of the most successful and recognized eras in team history.
