This is embarrassing but unable to recall the game in question although know we won 3 - 0 at Everton that season, completed a Mersey double in the process.

I think Adam Tanner's goal at Anfield in 1995 was the bigger success. (Due largely in part the squad was so damn poor that season a win at Liverpool (at that time) seems retrospectively more of a standout score)

Correct. Showed yet again just how anything can happen in football.

I went to the game at Goodison you refer to as my work colleagues at the time were all Evertonians, another great day, very quiet journey home though LOL.

Was there that day and we did ride our luck. Michael Owen should of had a hatrick, but very enjoyable win. I was also at the Everton for the 3-0 victory, It was the first time I had ever enjoyed going to Merseyside twice in a season. 1995 was the first time we won at Anfield, not when Marcus Stewart scored.

Think that was what ando was referring too when he replied to SJ's post.
If I remember correctly the Anfield game Heskey was through one on one but messed it up (nothing new there ).
I was also at Goodison, did Stewart get 2 that day and McGreal the other?

Nice to know the old memory hasn't gone completely. :D

saving grace was scum had a real bad end of season and came down with us,even thou we gave them 6 points

You could hardly forget it : although guessing a large number have tried their hardest to erase it from memory.

Yes we went down in bottom position if correct but still had some notable achievements such as the win at Liverpool and beating Manchester United at home around September '94. Lyall was fired soon after and George was given the task of major rebuilding but (for other reasons alone) it was a season that will live in the memory.

Took five years for a return to the EPL but when it occurred, it was worth the wait.
