Portsmouth V Bournemouth should be a cracker, a bit of a derby.

You don't think we will win the replay then?

No I don't, I don't believe we give a toss about it to be honest and the team MM plays will be far weaker than the one he played Saturday, in my opinion of course.

Other than giving a mention to the late Mr Bowie, this was the first thing I looked for on the pages.

First impression, it's a tie against an EPL team, but it's better than drawing one of the true heavyweights of the division.

Certainly winnable - but then you got to navigate past the replay at Portsmouth in order to even be involved.

Lot of South Coast involvement here in the FA Cup recently. First Southampton twelve months back, then Portsmouth and now Bournemouth if we make it through. What odds on a Brighton game in Round Five ?

Trouble is, and once again, McCarthy seems not to give a Fig about cup games more often than not, and then you got a good majority of our fan base who aren't interesting in the competition either and would care little if we went out at any time.

Disappointing as always, but we'll see what occurs in the replay and take it from there. Last Round 5 game was with Watford if correct (can't remember the year) but they got a late goal on the day if memory serves and don't believe we've been involved at that stage in the time since.

Bottom line - favorable draw, winnable game. Let's beat Portsmouth and Bournemouth together and keep our damn cup interests alive.

Agree with most of that. Not sure on the bit I have highlighted though. You would of thought the club would want to be in the competition for a bit more revenue. I know the Prem is the promise land, but surely if we are realistic we must want a cup run?
I certainly do.

As mentioned before, and would hope to be the final time, the club hasn't progressed beyond the fifth round since 1993, and I feel it's a disappointing statistic. We've had some good teams in that time for sure but even with the Burley and Royle squads that were capable, we never really made an impression. I'm not always going to get another chance to see this club win the competition, and while some of the younger generation may have their turn in years to come, it's always frustrating when an opportunity it there and we invariably blow it or fail to rise to occasion.

Even more so on the back of this win today, that provides that extra bit of motivation that we can take forward and put not only into subsequent league games, but future cup rounds this season also. A number of our support don't always realize this club could go a long way in the competition with the right attitude, but it's the players and management that need to be aware more than anything else.
