Marcus Evans!

I have been very patient with Marcus Evans
But I think Marcus Evans needs to Give Mick money in the summer to really push for promotion next season if we don't make it this season. Us fans do love the club and appreciate what Marcus Evans has done for the club but Mick needs the money now to fill the vital gaps. We don't need to spend stupid money like £11 million on 1 player, Mick will need the funds to compete with other clubs for the player(s) he has targeted. We all know how hard the Championship is and its a very hard league to get out of. If we are serious of gaining promotion Mick needs the funds to back it up. Mick has done wonders with hardly no money and we got close last season, this season has a chance of petering out, I just hope when we get some of our players back we can go on a run and save our season but I really do feel its the lack of Marcus Evans funds to Mick that may cost our season. I know I have said money does not but success but not giving Mick any money to spend is not going to help anything. Mick has been forced to use loan market and free players, don't get me wrong, the players we have signed like Pitman and Seas have been wonderful but I really do feel we are missing a few key areas like a play maker and a couple of other players like a CB and maybe a right back.
I love ITFC and sometimes I do get annoyed with some threads on here but that's because I love ITFC. But I really feel its time for Marcus to put money into transfers in the summer or we may be stuck in this league for years more.

This is just going over old ground and there must be a dozen threads on the same issue. If you go back four or five years on the pages you'll find even then questions raised about Evans reluctance to part with his money or strengthen the squad.
It's not so much the money even then. Hell McCarthy could have an infinite supply of cash at his disposal but we'd still be eliminated in the first or second rounds of individual cup competitions outside of the league and be subject to frustrating tactics and play.
Bottom line we have an owner with an unwillingness to properly strengthen the team to many peoples satisfaction with additions and a manager who could often be described as inept. Not a combination to guarantee a success.

I think you'll find Evans is trying to make the Club stand on its own two feet rather than rack up debts out of control. S tough ask, given how the game is run in this Country when Club's such as Man Utd are some £500m + in debt.

The fact that Evans wants to make us self sufficient and financially sound is a good ethic.
The issue is that as a whole we are fans, not shareholders. As such (however much we wish to deny it), we want to see success even if it were to bankrupt us. Honestly, do we care if the club loses money? We don't buy tickets so the club has a healthy looking report at the end of the fiscal year. We do it to be entertained. That's it.
"Money doesn't buy success", the saying goes........
Neither did sh*te managers

The key word there Don is "entertainment " and us Town fans have had precious little of that in over a decade.

Exactly. Now granted I have absolutely no basis to comment, I can't even remember the last game I went to, but do I care how much debt the club has? Not in the slightest.
I said this many moons ago and if I remember rightly I was along the lines of a sh*te supporter, but I couldn't give a rats arse if we go bust (not that I ever believe we would). The club doesn't fund me, I have no stake in it, so financial footing is of little consequence to me. I want to be entertained. If the only way to do that is throw money at over paid players like Man City did, so be it. If it's to put investment into a manager and work with them like Leicester did, so be it.
Just entertain me.
And I'm fed up of this "transfer embargo" and "penalty thing" if we don't spend within our means (I can't even remember the official name for it) I said at the time it was bobbins and 2/3 years later here we are. Nobody has been affected by it. Utterly pointless.

Not starting a new thread, but I thought I'd use this thread as Marcus Evans is the current sponsor.
Check this out:

Excellent shirt, BUT, the name "Pioneer" was written in some "logo" style was it not? That looks incredibly crap on there. Ruined a very good retro shirt there.
