Of course if MK Dons don't win all of their games we won't have to worry at all

Can't ever recall Ipswich being outside of the top two leagues and it's almost embarrassing not to be aware after a follower of the team for so many years now, but it's not something you can recall during any time of support. Let's be clear about this, it's very unlikely Town will see a relegation this year, but if it were to occur I'd be concerned about the teams ability to get back into the championship league. We maybe wouldn't get back at the first attempt and it could take three or four years to return to second league status. McCarthy as manager in the meantime doesn't fill you with confidence, but then if the club were to fall out of the league, wouldn't our owners take action and terminate his services ?
That's the thing though isn't it. I don't believe they'd do a damn thing and let him carry on as before, while we play high-ball tactics and disappoint once again. Bear in mind our often tendency to struggle against lesser opposition, so it's just as well this scenario won't come to pass and we start off in August (as is usual) in the championship league.

I think this is a suitable thread to put this. Was on another sporting forum tonight, different sport entirely, but the words spoken from this supporter could probably be related to by many Ipswich Town supporters as they probably (certainly, I'd say) face yet another season in the Championship.
Quote:
Have to say that I struggled to get motivated for this season. Assumed I would just get into it as the season started but the first two games have been an absolute chore. Probably just tired of watching others get excited about their teams as they rise and fall, then rise again while we just tread water. Yes, we have stability. But with that stability, we have mind numbing mediocrity. Haven't quite decided, but I think after 27 years of watching, I'm about done with it.
End quote.
Probably nails it for many ITFC fans.

Marko, if by some miracle we do make the play offs, all this negativity will be forgotten by 99% of those bemoaning it.

Please don't regard that as a negative post. It's merely a point of reference post which I feel is similar with a large contingent of ITFC fans. For the record that quote was from a forum of one of the largest sporting clubs in the world, an Aussie Rules club who average 70,000 fans at the MCG every other week, masses of history, BUT haven't won a premiership since 1980. Many other clubs have risen and fallen, risen again, but it genuinely has been mediocrity for them. Heartfelt post from a very passionate fan, and in no way meant in a negative way. Sometimes it's ok to step into the mind of others and try and see how they feel towards how things are going......, may not agree with them, but it's good to hear the views.
For me, it's very easy to decipher the genuine from the stupid sh*t.

Normally its 52 pts for safety in this Division not the 62 you are implying.

As it stands, we have more chance of Mr D Trump taking over the club than getting promoted
