For me it matters not who takes over the poison chalice of the England managers job. Very few of our so called top players show enough passion and commitment when putting on the shirt.

Made up of premier league so called superstars who are often paid 30k plus a week asked to perform for their country during their summer break for very little financial reward, when they would rather be on a beach somewhere with their loved ones.
Would you give the same commitment to the company you work for under the same circumstances?

Im not advocating more money, but i would like to see fringe players who want to impress on a world or European stage to better their careers. Players who want to be their and are given the chance to prove it.

Radical it may be, But why not? We've tried everything else.......

All due respect but I think whoever is appointed next will be a major factor on the chances of success for the years ahead. I can see why they gave Hodgson the opportunity, but you need someone with drive and ambition, some of the people in charge in recent times have been totally devoid of character and in so many words, as soft as sh*t.

With regards the latter, perhaps it all goes back to when they overlooked Brian Clough in favor of Greenwood. Forest kept hold of him, went on to major successes, while the English FA went with the other and ultimately achieved zero.

Easy to say in retrospect this would have worked, this may have made a difference and so forth, but looking back the English required someone (over time) who would not hesitate in banging heads together where necessary and giving players a kick in the as* for their lack of progress or motivation, but really, where has this been evident ?

Can't blame the kids coming through either, the number of academies in past times that have provided future stars and names of merit (West Ham, Manchester United etc) haven't either been able to work as a cohesive unit or fulfilled their initial promise. As with so many others - the potential is there, but not the inclination.

Even bet a good many of the squad that didn't give a f*ck against Iceland in the recent match-up are on vacation somewhere in the world, sitting by a hotel pool and not giving a f*ck what people's opinion is of them - or the team as a whole. Won't be the first instance, it won't be the last.
