Well that's 360 minutes plus stoppage time, (so say 380 minutes) , without a goal. Hopefully the strikers can get their sh*t sorted out before it becomes a proper problem like the Paul Jewell days.

Should I have said "midfielders"? With only one shot on target, was it the supply? Certainly looked like the most effective starting 11 that could've been fielded, Hallam. Not sure Mick could've played a better team if I'm honest. For me, today's result is down to the players. Waiting on a fans match report to suggest otherwise. Can understand 100% if there is no report from anyone this week.

You know, for one moment, I got the thread title and believed McCarthy has been fired / resigned : but it wasn't to be.
Say again, so long as Marcus Evans is owner you got to feel McCarthy won't be going anywhere any time soon.
Seen it read on a rival (Town page) that some would be willing to accept a club relegation if only to see the back of McCarthy. f*ck no, never seen Town outside of the top two leagues in many a year of following this team and would never wish for such a scenario. All I know is, if the club DOESN'T act soon enough, we will be playing in the third tier before long as Mick McCarthy can't seem to make a distinction between a draw and a victory and sooner or later, this style of play and results are going to catch up with us.
Prime candidates for replacement : Steve Bruce, Ted Howe, Warnock : anyone that could make a difference and turn the club round.

Need to sign some better players first and foremost !!
I think as long as he makes Evans a profit I can not see McCarthy and Conner going anywhere soon. Who ever comes here would have to work within the difficult restraints imposed by Evans.
If there is a new manager needed then I would like to see a younger manager like Justin Edinburgh or Craig Hignett and given funds to recruit.

Is it we need some better players, all reports suggest yesterday that they like Villa, scum and BRighton were ther for the taking is it not the tactics that are stifling the team? Ward on his first game was here there and everywhere and got goals, now where is he?same as any creative player we get it is drilled out o f them by MM.
As for who would take over I really don't have a clue, who would take it under this owner!

Sadly you may well be right either that. I can understand Evans not wanting to spend silly OTT money - but I don't think Town fans have wanted him to do that. But he has gone to the other extreme and it appears MM has minimal funds at his disposal - hence the freebies, youngster loans and "damaged goods" players we continue to sign.
However moving away from recruitment is the quote obvious issue of MM'S repeated tactical failings. Why persist with one striker up front at home ( I could understand awsy), and TWO midfielders who asked to play as holding players in front of back four. Why persist with Sears out wide when he was most prolific as a centre forward? Why persist with Chambers at right back when he is clearly a CB?
All these errors of judgement you could forgive if he did it for a few games. But Mick has done this for over two seasons now. And people, probably just like you are voting with their feet. I'll wager the gate for Burton is closer to 13k . Why should people pay £34 to watch this utter dross week in week out. If I hadn't stumped up for a 4 yr ST I know I wouldn't be going weekly .
BTW Its really nice to see your considered views

Marko we rarely got near the box let alone in it. The team have had to change style totally from the "hoof up to Murph and hope for the best". Now he had gone at the 12 Hr in the window thr Club were left floundering as to getting in a replacement. So MM's plan B has been laid bare for all to see for what it is. eg there isn't one!
Having watched us huff and puff since the departure of a big target man. It is patently clear Mick ( and his team) actually don't know HOW to play the game on the deck. Which is astonishing. Therein is our problem. We have a team week in week out that looks to all intents and purposes like a rudderless ship floundering on open waters. We havent got a clue!
There is no leader in the team. and we pitta patta the ball about between the two defensive midfielders and the back four. If it is pumped forward to Best the attack falls apart because the two wide men are just that- too wide and Best, or whoever plays as striker, is totally isolated. It's basic footballing tactics which MM and TC appear devoid of ideas as to how to correct / change this.
We SHOULD be beating teams with the players in.our squad but they are hamstrung by Micks tactical failings.
We may well soon be in a relegation fight if something doesn't change. I'd go so far as to suggest the Blackburn game is now a 6 pointer relegation game. I bet we lose it !

No, don't bet on the loss. Never bet your team lose. Put that money on "Ted Howe" becoming boss. Whoever the Fk that is.

I will give him the benefit of the doubt until we get the injured players back. But if we are still sh*te by after that he has to go.

I think he will still play one up front. Sears on the wing and when Webster's fit he'll put Chambers back in at right back and drop Emmanuel. And still play two holding / defensive midfielders.
Same old same old

Interesting observations by Jon West writing in today's Sunday Times re yesterday's match:
......"The Terriers' position at the top of the table has made his (David Wagner: Huddersfield manager) Championship rivals look prehistoric. None more so than Mick McCarthy".
He continues:
"McCarthy, in situ at Portman Road for four years now, all but admitted his managerial expiry date was imminent".
Pretty well in line with what I'm thinking - even after taking into account the fairly awful run of injuries.

Did Jon West also say that getting rid of Mick would cost Mevans something close to the "tuna" £3M?!
Oh dear, apologies.
If true, then AV wouldn't want a prehistoric manager. That'll put those rumours to bed. Which may upset a few!

I do not know much about Football, but i know when i,m entertained or not, i watch quite a bit of Dutch football, and its entertaining, totally different to the dross served up at our once famous Portman rd and away, so for me i would like to see a Dutch manager appointed, dunno who! but i,m sure there has two be several candidates out there that could certainly do a better job of things than we are seeing at the moment! but maybe i,m wrong i usually am says the ex wife!!

I'd love to see a Dutch manager replace McCarthy! Someone who can teach the lads how to play football again! Please Villa, take McCarthy away from Portman Road for good!

Aston Villa discarded the services of Di Matteo today and there's been talk about McCarthy being linked with the (now) new position in recent time, but as for rumors or talk of being a favorite name for the vacancy, it would appear he's not even on a shortlist of replacements and their directors wouldn't even seem to look our way.
Some considerable mention of Bruce as a potential England candidate after Southgate's interim run comes to an end, and it'll be a shame to see us miss out, but there has been ample time to make necessary arrangements and we haven't acted.
It's all hypothetical of course as McCarthy remains in position here and as many have alluded to, in all probability Evans will sit idly by and allow any poor form to continue. In truth there's not a day that goes by when you look in and aspire to see the mention / headline of McCarthy's resignation, but something has to occur sooner or later.
