What gets my goat.

Hi, i have been a town supporter for over 30 years, and what gets my goat is that MM
fails to play the old fashion wing play game. As a past outside right player when i was
young the main objective was to aim for the by-line and cross...job done!!!!!
If you are going to play with two wingers, then they should be prepared to attack defenders
and not shy away. Playing the ball back sends a message to defenders that you have no balls!!!
MM should only use players in their strongest positions and not out of position.
He should go and sooner the better! !!!

My motto for MM is play with passion, dictate the game from start, be aggressive in attack,
then he may win back the fans(wishful thinking).

Thanks Tangfastic for your reply to my post.

I'm glad you saw eye to eye with me on that one!!!
I hope other fans will agree but there are fans that will stick with MM
regardless of poor results.
My gut feeling is that we will finish mid table unless something major happens.

Some would argue it'll be a long day in January before McCarthy shows enough 'passion' and 'offensive aggression' to the extent where supporters can ideally maintain a realistic hope of actually achieving something. It's reached a point now where there's little change for each game and as all are witness to, unless there's a dramatic improvement, we can expect little success in what remains of the season.

Essentially we're looking at seven months ahead where we may achieve a standout score on occasion or that the team plays well enough they are deserving of plaudits, but have to argue the disappointments may far outweigh the positives.

Sandwiched in somewhere down the line there is of course the FA Cup, but expecting little more than the usual white flag surrender and first round elimination. Like the author put it, have been a follower of the club 30 + years also and unable to see much further than a mid-league finish at the end of it all. Bottom line, there will be no promotion, there will be no relegation.

Furthermore if McCarthy's previous employers Sunderland and Wolverhampton for instance took action and discarded his services when the team were failing, why is it no-one at our club can seem to see what is occurring, and make the necessary arrangements ?

Len, a big Welcome to TB'S. Your comments are bang on the money for me and frankly is exactly what my old long departed grandad used say about wing play.

What I don't get is MM deployed this type of tactic in his Wolves promotion team and now he has those players at PR , why the he'll isn't he doing the same here now. I could forgive him when he hadn't got those players in the squad. but not now.

He was probably talking about the Battle of Britain, Hallam.

Never heard the "gets my goat" saying before......... But I was told to "stop acting the goat" many times in the past.

Mick........, just Fk off now eh. The forum is desparate to change the f**king subject.

Well my thinking is MM has lost the plot and he has no vision as if he has already thrown in the towel.
One team i could mention is Crystal Palace who play attacking football and non stop who also play with
two wingers and look where they are now!!!!
You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand what a wing back or an outside right or lefts job
is, but maybe he just likes the passing game hence....0-0.

More to come.
Len.

In young Kenlock and to some extent Emmanuel I think we have two young players capable of doing the Burley type overlaps and crossing ability. But they are very raw/ green etc but to do and any chance of getting experience they either need a loan period in League One or be drip fed into out first team. I'd prefer the latter.

marko. "gets my goat" is a local saying ...as is " on the hu" ....also there's a difference of description by locals when they talk about going in to the town. Some will say .." I'm now going up the town".....or..." I'm now going down town".......geographically the town is in a dip on the river bank and you can't get into or out of the town without going up or down a hill.

When I sat at a Rangers v Falkirk game in the 19 80's the lads behind us kept describing the opposition as " mence"or it sounded like "mince" which I think meant crap or similar!! mind you I think their strong accents and swigging from a large bottle of Whiskey didn't help communications much loll....but they kept offer us a swig so can't complain!

Yes, "mince", Hallam. Go to Easter Road or a Scotlahd game. You'll hear it, (and see it) in abundance.
