Brett Pitman is ahead of schedule in his return from an ankle injury and could be in contention for the squad for next week’s game at Bristol City.

The striker sustained ankle ligament in the defeat at Leeds at the end of September and was expected to be out for at least 10 weeks.

“Pits is getting close now,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told the Club website.

“He has been very diligent with all his rehab and there is a possibility he could be on the bus to Bristol City next week.”

While the former Bournemouth frontman is closing in on a return, Mick added that Tommy Smith and Luke Hyam won’t be rushing back into action.

Luke had surgery on his knee after nerve damage while Tommy had a back operation.

“They are also making progress but they will be back when they are back,” said Mick.

“The operation Tommy had on his back is a serious one and we will make sure he is absolutely right before he returns. It will be the same with Luke.”
Good news that he is on the way back, I think we have missed his predatory instincts around the box. Pitts & Didsy up front with hopefully sears dropped.
