Personally I'd say Mick HAS lost the dressing room and it would appear a good number of our senior players want out and will leave in the summer. Question is can we survive the drop this season with a squad that has imploded? From where I'm standing, the players don't appear to have the stomach for the fight now. Why should they, they're going to leave the Club in a few weeks anyway.

Q: Can we clear up the contract situation? You say ‘it’s up for the club to decide’ if the extra one-year option in contracts are taken – surely it’s up to you, as first-team manager, to decide which players you want to keep?

A: Yeah... There’s mitigating circumstances. There’s the cost of it, the length of it, the age of them... It’s not quite as simple as that.

Q: You’ve made it pretty clear how important Luke Chambers is to you as a player and leader. Have you told (owner) Marcus (Evans) that you would like to keep him?

A: Chambo has been the right-back for us for the last four years and he certainly won’t be staying on for another three years as a full-back, so he’s got to compete at centre-half with Christophe (Berra), Tommy (Smith), Webbo (Adam Webster).

Q: So it’s the length of contract which is the issue? (Nottingham Forest reportedly offered him a three-year deal on Tuesday)

A: All those things that I’ve just mentioned are in the mix in terms of whether people are re-signed or not. It’s the same with Christophe (Berra). His (contract) is running out. We’ve already talked about him. He’s intimated that he’d like to go back to Scotland, but there is still an option on him.

Q: So a perfect storm has created that uncertainty surrounding both Chambers and Berra – it’s not ideal to have two key players unsettled heading into such an important run of games is it?

A: No, it’s not, but as I’ve said I think Luke Chambers was excellent the other night considering everything that had gone on. He will continue to be that.

If the club decides to give him his contract, great, if not somebody will snap him up because he’s a good defender and a bloody good captain and great bloke to have around the club.

If they want contracts here or anywhere else they have to continue playing. They are both really good pros, so I’m not worrying about them.

Q: You think their heads will be in the right place?

Absolutely.

Q: Have you spoken to Luke since Tuesday? He looked pretty despondent leaving the field.

A: I should f*****g hope he was. We’ve just been beaten 3-0. If he walks off smiling I’d bloody slap him.

I heard someone say ‘Mick seems down’. Really?! Really?! F*****g hell.

Q: Did he want to go?

A: There was an offer in, they wanted to talk to him and we didn’t allow it because we need him.

Q: So there was no fee agreed between the clubs?

A: I’ve said all I want to say on this. I’m not going to answer any more of your questions on this.

Foul mouthed yob. If thats how he talks to his players no wonder they all want away. I am very reliably informed at least 5 wanted away in January and Chambers was promised he can go in the summer. So no manager, captain , goalkeeper, centre half, striker and young up and coming midfeilder looks like even more of a crisis Mr Evans.

Its about time the press interviewed Mick in the manner only he knows best, straight to the point, But as we now have Taylor fit and Smith back, there's going to be some contentious decisions on who plays at the back 4, nice one Mick, and definitely drop Knudsen my god he's really bad, stick with Kenlock, at LB and let him learn from more game time.

Now would this line up be better against Reading,??? I've chosen Pitman as he likes to play off the shoulder, and with this midfield he should get the service he needs

Im not convinced Mick has lost the dressing room. I just think the players are so low and perhaps are questioning their own ability. This interview to me says that Mick is pissed off and disillusioned with the clubs transfer policy in the current climate. Stuart Watson gave him a couple of opportunities to lay some of the blame at Evans door, from reading this I think he was very tempted to do that but thought better of it. I guess he knew what the policy was when he joined us, but 3 or 4 years ago this strategy was a bit more realistic, teams were not spending 10-15m on one player in this league then. Now the money has increased tenfold meaning that the players that are realistically available are no longer good enough, any half decent player will be snapped up for significant money and high wages which we cannot compete with.

The thing that I think pisses Mick off more than anything is the club are not trusting his judgement ie. the situation with Chambers. Mick clearly wants to give him the extra year, the club are not commiting to that, in doing that we end up with an angry captain who wanted to leave to a club who would give him security, and a manager who is perhaps questioning whether the club really want him here. I don't think Mick cares if the fans want him gone, but the fact the owner is not trusting him on his captain says a lot in my opinion. I have no doubt that in the first 2 or 3 years of Micks reign, if he wanted someone signed up on a longer contract he got it, I don't think he was questioned before. Even last year we took up the option on the contract of Jonathon Douglas, much to the fans disgust, but why would Evans trust him on that but not Chambers?

In my opinion this all points to Evans perhaps losing trust/faith and maybe preparing for a new management team in the summer who may have ideas of their own in terms of personnel and the current playing squad.

I just question Marcus Evans motives. Firstly he bahaves like a recluse and appears to only have a distant interest in the football club he owns. Unlike many other Charman who love their footballl clubs, are pationate about them and when they can afford to write off debts by converting it into worthless shareholdings. Our man is totally the opposite, shows little interest in the football club, shows no trust in his manager and ramps up dept which he then charges something like 5% interest on. In all not much of an asset, other than the fact he probably saved us from extinction which I guess was helpful at the time.

However since his original burst of enthusiasm with Roy Keane when I believe he thought with his money it would be a simple task to gain swift promotion, he's reverted back to his natural recluse like instincts. I think he's also a "control freak" and keeps The Board minimal to avoid outside interest and influence and has joint MD's to dilute their effectiveness in his absence.

I really don't know where this is leading us.

I agree, ive said before one of my main issues with Marcus Evans is that there is no official board anymore. He hires puppets who are his mouthpiece. Like any business you always need people to challenge you, well Milne etc cant do that as they don't know what they are talking about. Im not convinced Evans wants someone who knows about football to work under him as he then really would be challenged. We need to get back to a position whereby Evans is the leader, but he has a team of people on the board, some of which must be football people and ideally a member of the supporters club, they then should be entitled to challenge decisions being made. Evans wouldn't like it but that is the core way to make a business successful, dictatorships never work in the long run, and that's what we currently are. OK its his money and ultimately he decides how to spend it, but the other aspects should be up for debate
