THE DON CUP 2016/17

Post by marko69 » Mon May 08, 2017 8:03 pm

What an excellent season of the Don Cup Tractor Boys Caption Competition, really has been a great effort by everyone. Well, everyone who took part anyway! That final league table will be getting posted here tomorrow afternoon and the winner will be getting announced.

For tonight though, we have the "caption of the season" award. Sorry there is no prize for this, probably should be as the top three here are hilarious.

In 3rd place, from the Reading preview, February 7th.

Image

WATERSHIP DOWN: Us....., lose here? Yeah right!

In 2nd place, from the Wigan preview, December 21st.

Image

PATTHEGIMP: Mick makes subtle bid for the Wigan job.

And in 1st place, the winning caption of the season from the Aston Villa preview, February 11th.

Image

BLUEBLOOD: Scampi flavoured Nik Naks, or is that the wife's......, ?

Well done on that one there, Blueblood, certainly got a good, proper LOL out of that one.

Still waiting on a few more votes coming in from people for your Forest attempts but the final league table will be posted tomorrow afternoon. Cheers

CONGRATULATIONS TO --------->>>> DERICK_IPSW on winning this years title.

8 of those guys in Oz are ENGLISH!!! They appreciated the Aussies with no humour gag. Is it a cricket thing? Or are they just total w*nkers, Frosty?! ANYWAY, your name will be etched onto the trophy before the new season kicks off, Derick and again, very well done indeed.

Very unlucky indeed to Nicscreamer who I must say, had a decent amount of 5 and 4 point answers in the final couple months, the Forest caption itself very funny indeed.

But again, thanks to all who took part, brightened up many a weekend with the wit and humour. Until next season, Cheers y'all.

Thanks guys, I really enjoy the caption comp. Having a brain (yes, there is one up there somewhere) that's constantly wired to attempt to see the stupidity and funny side in all situations, it makes it very easy indeed.
Unlike Jamma and bluemikes jobs, (and sometimes Herforder) opening and closing thoughts must be very tough indeed, but they do it with apparent ease. I know I couldn't do it. Especially after poor performance. If I done it:
Opening thoughts:
Well. Last week was sh*t innit?!
Final thoughts:
Better be better than last weeks sh*t.
They'd be very small, extremely summarised previews.

Speaking of Herforder........ what happened to you dude for the Forest caption? You were in the Top 5?

Well done marko, and congrats to Derek!

Good fun reading the captions, I have some problems with it since I usually have no idea who we are looking at

And not a bad attempt at defending the title, Ando. I'm sure you'll be back next season with your superb humour.

Still scratching my head over Herforder. Wtf happened? Hope all is well with him.

Very busy in Edinburgh today due to a fire in one of the main streets, Broughton Road, so traffic jammed en route to the Easter Road engravers. From the point of reaching the jam until reaching the shop was over an hour. And then discovered it's closed until July 12th!!!
FOR F U C K SAKE!!!! An AAAARGH moment!

On a low carb diet at the moment, but FK it, went into a nearby Costa and got an Apple Danish and cappuccino. Yep, FK IT!!

Managed to get into the shop and pick up the cup. Tried to get a picture onto here but its just not allowing it. I have since emailed it to Jamma123 and hopefully he can post the picture very soon. Its looking very good indeed.

Oi ..... I sense a declaration of war!

I'll have you know that the missus has allowed me to pay Mike and Andy even more coin this season so I can remain competitive in the PL! ....... She won't have me being a loser. :D
