Great news, for so many reasons! Wasn't in the least confident that MM would get him, not least because of recent comments about having to ship some out etc; and fearing his home-town connections, and our feathered friends spending power, would sway him in their favour. However, he's obviously an intelligent individual, with impeccable judgement and ambition!

No doubt, things are definitely getting better all the time! Cautious optimism.......

If Bersant Celina (20) joins us from Manchester City we could have the prospect of a very young and exciting midfield next season. I'm not sure who MM would field but with the Wednesdays permanent signing of Emyr Huws (23) and today's signing of Tom Adeyemi (25) possibly linking up with last seasons new arrival Grant Ward (22), we could have the youngest midfield in the Championship. How different would this be for a Town side.

We also have existing midfielders Luke Hyam (25) , Teddy Bishop (20), Andre Dozzell (18) & Danny Rowe (25) with our oldest Kévin Bru at (28), so however Mick mixes it we won't have the hasbeen midfields we've seen over some of our recent seasons.

He said: “I have known about the interest from Ipswich for a while but it picked up over the last few days and having spoken to the manager, it was an easy decision to come here.

“I didn’t need to speak to anyone else. I know what a great club Ipswich is. I know about the history.

“The manager told me about his plans and how I fitted in and I have always admired him from afar as well.

“They were all key reasons why I wanted to come here but Ipswich showed the most interest in me as well and that was important. I wanted to join a club that I felt really wanted me and I felt that about it here.

“I know the Club have signed a few players lately so there is a bit of a re-building going on and I’m delighted to be part of that.

“It’s a fresh start for me. It’s a challenge I’m really looking forward to taking on - to prodce some good football here and play my part in helping the Club compete at the top end of the table.

“It’s a very competitive league but we will start with ambitions of finishing in the top six.”

Excellent to read that ^^^^^

Its also good to read Mick getting some praise for a change. Last season is over……, it should be nothing but praise from now until……….., well, I won't finish that sentence!

Charnwood I'm sure who MM would field despite having an exciting midfield.

This is Skuse. McCarthy will play him every game regardless of tactics/results/form and that is so annoying. He ought to fight for his place in the team instead of being automatic choice week in week out.

Mach's got a point though.

If we all pencil in a likely team - Skuse and Chambers will always be there, for example. Not based on form - just because it seems like a MM rule - when fit, Skuse and Chambers are going to be in any line-up, regardless of form or if there are better options.

If there is more competition for places in,say, midfield, players like Skuse have got to justify their place.

Yes I get it but none of us know yet how we are going to be set up. For me Chambers should be in there every week anyway and if we go with nothing but attacking options in midfield we will lose far more than we win. I don't and never have believed skuse is the problem anyway.

MM will always play a holding/screening midfield player. If not Skuse, then who do we have to fill that role? Not Bru or Hyam! With a bit more quality and pace now available, it might actually improve Skuse's game.

Im not so sure Skuse is now a dead cert starter in midfield. We have a multitude of CMF's to choose from and who's to say MM has stopped looking for more : the Scottish lad for instance?

We DO need however a big target man a another winger and assuming Emmanual is going out of loan , Id say another RB .

Id rather Emmaual did go out of loan for a season to rub off those raw edges than sit on out bench getting the odd few minutes / games here this season.

Not a Skuse-hater. Just don't like his permanent inclusion onto the teamsheet. Or anyone for that matter.

Its really hard to know how we would get on without Skuse over the course of 5 to 10 games because its never been allowed to happen. Likely we might lose a few more, but also likely we could win a few more. Its that 3 points for a win and 1 for a draw that is relevent - and we know Mick's happy with a draw.

Mike where am I being negative? I'm merely stating the fact. He's an automatic choice.

I'd love the club to sign tough, holding midfielder who would be a nuisance for the opposition as we badly need one but it's my wishful thinking.

It was said a bit tongue in cheek mate although I know you dislike Skusey lol

Mach who knows who else will be coming in, lets face it most thought we would sign nobody of any note and no money would be spent so all those fans are wrong already, they also said nobody would be signed until late July, wrong again, they also said we had no chance of winning the race to sign Celina, wrong again, they also said no way would we hold on to Bart, looking like they are wrong again, they also said Scum would get Adeyemi back ahead of us, wrong again, I could go on and on but i'm sure you get the point. As it stands there is positivity about this close season already and we may just have more to come. Let's worry about the negative/positive formation and team selection on August 5th.

Mike I don't dislike Skuse :D I dislike the fact that he is automatic choice week in week out regardless of his form and performances. He's a limited, average player and it often has been proven that we play better without him. Last February matches for example.

Giovanni's, local hairdresser of choice by quite a few of our players, will be relishing the challenge!

Great pic, though!

I have to agree. Diagouraga played for most of February and although defensive he drove forward and passed forward. Probably not as good defensively as Skuse, his (Skuse's) shortcomings are highlighted when we are in possession. No movement off the ball to receive a pass. When in possession lacks drive, pace and the ability to pick outhe a good pass. Not a bad player but his limitations are clear to see. Unfortunately those limitations just make the team's shortcomings worse. I'd have been much happier if we'd have kept Diagouraga or found someone better.

Would R Tunniclffe - still apparently on MM's radar - be a more positive/creative option?
