Away ticket prices

Post by Bluemike » Fri Jun 30, 2017 6:58 pm

Town have announced that they have written to their fellow Championship clubs to try to arrange a reciprocal price cap of £25 on away match tickets.

The Blues have offered to put a ceiling of £25 on away seats at Portman Road for a rival club's fans if they agree to do the same when Town visit their stadium.

“Supporters travel 1,000s of miles every season watching their club so we listened to feedback from both our own fans and those of visiting opposition teams and decided to initiate a price cap,” the Blues’ director of retail operations, Lee Hyde, told the club site.

“We have contacted virtually every club in the Championship with the reciprocal offer and we have already received very positive feedback.

“The contact with clubs has only just been made over the last 24 hours or so but already six clubs have come back and agreed and others have expressed interest, so there are encouraging signs that we can achieve something.”

The £25 price for away fans at Portman Road will only apply if the opposition agree to the same when Blues fans visit their stadium otherwise they will pay the standard price.
Very good news and not before time either, well done Town, better late than never, lets hope it comes off. We have been only to aware that our pricing for visiting fans is obscene and as a fan that does pretty much all the away games too I would welcome a cap on price of some sort. Is the club finally starting to listen to the fans again !!

Is this the same ITFC that just a few weeks ago was pressing the self destruct button almost everyday with various news releases that served to wind up the Town faithful at every possible turn?

Has Evans sold up and not informed anyone?

The club probably wants to redeem themselves for that season tickets' farce.

Town have revealed that 12 clubs have so far agreed to their recently announced away ticket price cap proposal.

Last month, the Blues wrote to their fellow Championship clubs to try to arrange a reciprocal price cap on away match tickets, which would see the Blues put a ceiling of £25 on away seats at Portman Road for a rival side’s fans if they agreed to do the same when Town supporters visit their stadium.

“We have received a very encouraging response so far and we have agreed a deal with 12 clubs,” Town’s director of retail operations, Lee Hyde, told the club website.

“Some clubs have expressed an interest and want to consider it further before making a decision and some have yet to come back to us. That happens at this time of year with people away on holiday. At the moment, of the clubs we have contacted, only one has rejected the idea."
Well done Town, this is good news, hopefully some more clubs will get on board.

Good news....... BUT, costs will be added somewhere, (to ITFC fans no less) for the damage Leeds, Millwall (and a selection of other clubs) leave.

The plumbing bill alone runs into the thousands after an Edinburgh Derby. No doubt Hibees return the favour at Shitecastle although I strongly disagree with it.

Marcus Evans likes to hide his as* so far as the club is concerned but even he wouldn't vacate his position without passing notice to the fans. Granted it's surprising we've altered costs and brought in an influx of new blood so soon after before, but like it or not the chairman will remain in ownership.
