I actually had a dream last night that I was over there meeting people on this board after a 2-0 Ipswich win. We were using our forum names, and yes there was even another American from Illinois there. I take that as a good omen, and great job on the preview!

2-0 Ipswich

How about a 3-1 home win in front of 16000 + fans, let's have a bit of positivity at least for a week or so.

Thanks for posting that, 9. Very informative.

My overall opinion on that 22 minutes footage of Mick is its going to be one hell of a long season.

And the Mötley anti-Skuse Crüe...... avoid watching it.

Town boss Mick McCarthy has confirmed new striker Joe Garner is over the shoulder injury he suffered at Charlton last weekend and will be available to make his debut in Saturday’s opening home game of the season against Birmingham at Portman Road. McCarthy also revealed that David McGoldrick and Bersant Celina, who both missed the Charlton defeat due to illness, could both also be in the squad.

“He missed the first couple of days, Monday and Tuesday, but he trained on Thursday and Friday and he’s fine,” McCarthy said of Garner at his pre-match press conference, which was shown live on TWTV. “He was on good form today.

“Didzy trained yesterday and trained very well but he was left out of the shooting because it was his calf that was very sore. He’s trained really well today as well.

“He’s missed a lot of practice and a lot of sessions, but he was good. And Bersant is similar. He trained Thursday and Friday so both are fit and available for the squad.”

The Blues’ pre-season preparations have been hampered by the virus suffered by McGoldrick and Celina as well as a number of other players, and their manager.

“Everybody’s had it,” McCarthy reflected. “Me, being a Yorkshireman, I take it if it’s for free, so I’ve had it. Believe me, I don’t give much away so I didn’t pass it on to anybody.

“Bersant was the first to get it and he and Tom Adeyemi were rooming together in Ireland and he got knocked off his feet, which takes some doing with Tom.

“But he’s been training today, which is good. Tom Adeyemi, Emyr Huws and Luke Hyam, God love him, have been out today training with Lids [fitness coach Andy Liddell], so that’s a good sign.

“But it has been a disjointed pre-season through illness and injury - Chambo having his tonsils out, Adam Webster coming back from [an ankle] injury. There have been a lot missing but they’re all coming back thankfully.”

Any likely to be back for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup match at Luton? “Teddy Bishop’s not training, he’s having treatment [for a groin injury]. Tom Adeyemi is the most athletic of them all, Luke Hyam would argue with that but he has been out a long time, I’m just talking about how they are at the moment.

“Emyr Huws with his achilles, I’ve just watched him, he’s been doing shuttles and training hard, so he looks like he’s going to be OK. But he needs that groundwork put into him that he’s missed. So I don’t see Tuesday, I think that’s a bit too soon for them.”
Good to have them Three back even if they dont start.

IT'S MATCH DAY AT LAST !!!!!!

Every season we roll up the first game hoping and praying that this time around it will be our turn to have some glory, it can all be dashed withing the first 90 minutes or equally hopes can rise with a positive start, for us it looks so tough to compete with clubs throwing obscene money around like confetti, we have to play on an uneven playing field virtually every week.

Last season was a disaster almost throughout, it has to improve this time around, I believe it undoubtedly will, to what level I have no idea but it will be better. The entertainment can only improve and MM has repeatedly stated we have to play easier on the eye stuff and entertain the fans more, especially at home, Portman Road was a fortress not that long ago and it can be again but I cannot emphasise enough how crucial it is for the fans to stick with the team especially when things are not going right, if the bad feeling starts early in the season we could very well be doomed, lets give the boys the chance over a few weeks before getting on their backs and hopefully they will respond how we want them to.

Match days still give me a real buzz, even after last seasons drab Nine months, away games are by far the more enjoyable but home games can be too, one thing that even the football can not spoil for me is the meeting up with friends pre match, a couple of beers and a bite to eat, plenty of banter and laughs, that's what it is all about, win the game and it's the icing on the cake. Come on Town let's do this, against all the odds and negativity let's get our real Ipswich back, that's all we ask. COYB'S.

Set The Controls......dust down the optimism, temper with realism, crank up the hope! Another voyage begins, with anticipation and excitement levels into the red - as at the start of every new season: my 46th. What's gone before is history, can't be changed; a clean-ish slate waits to be written on.

From reading the above posts, to listening and watching local media stuff and just talking to other Blue boys and girls, it seems that just about everything has been said, opinions given and predictions made. But, with due respect to all experts and textperts, the reality - over which WE have no control - starts again today. Ain't it great?

See today's encounter as a 1-1.

Caption comp - for which renewed thanks to Marko for handling it so brilliantly:

Boy to Father: What's for tea, Dad?

Reply: Looks like it's gonna be carrots and peas, son.

Great to see and read Mike, and it's absolutely true that we have to start positive and get the best out of the players and encourage a better atmosphere around the ground. Good luck for the season lads and win or lose make us proud. Have fun and enjoy the match. Bluearmy forever.

Good for Bristol City, ITNO1  Only know this due to my mate here at Easter Road having them in a football bet!

Even though the Hibs are 2-1 up @ ER, I'm hoping ITFC are playing better football at PR. Jaysus H, it's poor.

Come on, FREDDIE...... let's get the opener in the 2nd half.

Strangely quiet on here. LUCY...... where are ye? JAMES???

Fans going to get 45 minutes of seeing Flynn Downes....., (hopefully Dozzell isn't injured) ...... but looking forward to reading how Downes does this half.

Come on, ITFC.

GnB must be happy too. Although that first half...... 3 attempts in total, 1 on target. From two of the fancied sides!

Can't say Mick is not playing the kids. Just hope Dozzel isn't too badly hurt. Looking forward to hearing reports about the young gun replacing him Downs.

Ok, why was Dozzell playing, out his face on gas and air?! :D

All joking aside, suffered a serious knee injury when I was 21 years old and knee pain is on another level. I can understand why he needed that sh!t. Hoping he recovers soon.

Read the BBC report, decent reading,..... sounds like Bailkowski made some very good saves either side of HT.

Look forward to the fans reports.
