Eight years ago Sir Bobby Robson lost a fight with cancer and was sadly taken from us. Doesn't seem like so long, remember the day well, wore some merchandise in honor of his achievements - and stature as an individual - and for not only for his work at this club, but services to sport in general - a caliber of person that is hard to find, he was immense.
Obviously his relevance here is well documented, taking an unfashionable team to the verge of being one of the best that Europe could offer - it's a real pity we couldn't win the old first division championship that the manager so deserved.
Take this opportunity to thank Mr Robson for what he did for this club, not only that but his achievements elsewhere are recognized by many. 7/31 will always be a poignant day for supporters of not only here, but Newcastle United and Mr Robson's family and friends. It was an honor to have you as part of the club for 13 years and the journeys and memories you left behind. Rest in Peace.
