Apparently the ref's view of incident was blocked. But isn't there the system where the authorities can ban too if deemed bad.

Certainly in the Premier League the player could and most probably would get punished retrospectively. This can only happen when the ref (as last night) didn’t see the tackle. I’m not sure if the same rules apply in the football league.

The thing is, the ref blatantly signals that he's allowing advantage to be played, so he obviously saw that a foul had happened.
