Next Six Matches

Post by Bluemike » Sun Dec 03, 2017 1:10 pm

These Six fixtures takes us to the Transfer Window when the chance is there to strengthen the squad, obviously we know little is going to be spent but as MM has proved with Waghorn & Garner it isn;t aboput the how much you spend but how capable you are at finding a bargain or Two, we all know it is the defence that needs tinkering with and should we do that we could be in for a promising second half of the season which would give us every chance of a high end finish. So what do we all think we need points wise drom this tricky set of fixtures to keep us in touch and on the pace ?

Middlesbrough (A)
Reading (H)
Wolves (A)
QPR (H)
Derby (H)
Fulham (A)

For me I think we need to be looking at 10 points, that would be a good haul and would see us still in a good place, that being the case we need to be looking at at least 7 points from our Three home games, Reading & QPR are really must wins as we know Derby will be tough, so Three points away from those fixtures look hard and it is unlikely we will draw all Three so where can we nick an away win ? Boro or Fulham are possible but we never seem to get the measure of Fulham lately so maybe Boro is our best hope.

Thoughts people ?

They say that 2 points per game is promotion form so on that basis we should be looking for 12. I think all of the games are winnable except Wolves & Fulham where I'm expecting us to struggle.

Middlesbrough (A) 3
Reading (H) 3
Wolves (A) 0
QPR (H) 3
Derby (H) 3
Fulham (A) 0

Middlesbrough (A) 0-1 W
Reading (H) 2-1 W
Wolves (A) 2-0 L
QPR (H) 3-1 W
Derby (H) 0-2 L
Fulham (A) 1-1 D

10 points which would be an excellent haul.

Note the same Derby side we took 3 points off at Pride Park last Tuesday had won 0-3 at Middlesbrough only three days earlier. Furthermore Middlesbrough have lost three of their last four games and definitely won’t be looking forward to playing us. I think we stand more chance of winning at Boro than we do at either of our other two away games at Wolves and Fulham.

However the results fall 10 points from these games would be brilliant form and keep us in touch as we go into the New Year.

More the worry, anything much less than 10 points would probably see us fall to a mid table position as this League is so close this season with only 3 points separating 9th from 15th.

You can't make random judgments on games ahead, got lucky with Saturday's win, in truth (and obviously) it could have ended by any means of score.

For arguments sake you look at those fixtures lined up, and best guess :

Middlesbrough Away : 1 point
Reading Home : 3 points
Wolverhampton Away : 0 points
Queens Park Rangers Home : 1 point
Derby County Home : 1 point
Fulham Away : 0 points

Which amounts to six, wish could be more hopeful, but this team will throw all manner of surprises your way, you never know what to expect. Got players that are capable, but consistency is the key word throughout it all. We got a great talent in Bialkowski, needs to be involved again like he can, that player alone can bring the club 15 - 20 points in a season.

It’s difficult to say when you consider our inconsistent form. I believe we could win all of those games with the squad of healthy players we currently have. I’m looking forward to seeing where we are in the table after these six matches. I suppose you could say the “Hateful Six” could make us or break us. COYB!!!

Looking at the opposition the teams we have to beat are above us or a couple of points behind us. Middlesborough will be tough as will Derby, Reading,Wolves, QPR may be predictable but Fulham away will be tough. I would like to think we could take a point from Middlesborough, Derby a point even if we are at home, Reading 3 points, Wolves 1 point QPR 3 points, Fulham 1 point..... note I have predicted no losses...... what can I say I'm an optimist.

It was nothing to do with her optimism I’m all for that. It was her adding up I was referring too.

I think he was referring to his 4-2 prediction of the match result Mike, not Town getting a lucky win.

Unfortunately nothing in the Championship is predictable which is what makes the League so challenging and so difficult to get promotion from.

I’ve read it again and think you’re right. I was linking his comment to something Marko had written but that was on another thread.

Charnwood you were originally right, it was in reference to the 4 - 2 Nottingham prediction (that came a surprise, therefore the element of fortune) Shame it had to be questioned..
