Latest stats of the Div One.

Alf Ramsey’s team cost a mere £30,000; £12,000 of that had been spent on bringing inside forward Dougie Moran from Falkirk. Striker Ray Crawford would play twice for England that season, but the side contained no other internationals. Ipswich were the prototype for the “wingless wonders” 4-3-3 formation developed by Ramsey during his England years. Former inside-forwards Roy Stephenson and James Leadbetter played as wide midfield men, moving the ball quickly into space for Crawford, Moran and Ted Phillips to capitalise on.
.................................

Stan Cullis’s Wolves, champions in 1958 and 1959, now slumped to 18th. the government has called a special meeting on the country's stability if the Wolves were ever relegated, Prime Minister Harold Macmillan fears for an uprising in the Black Country.

Irony is, back in 2004 we lost 1 - 3 there this day, which may well have cost us an automatic promotion place by the end of that season. Not only that, we were top of the league after the game despite the defeat. Maybe Joe Royle wasn't to everyone's liking but seeing what we now possess, damn it I miss those times.

12/26/2004

Davis, Wilnis, Naylor, Richards, De Vos, Horlock, Miller, Currie, Westlake, Bent, Kuqi

subs used : Magilton, Karbasiyoon, Bowditch

There at least was a team that inspired confidence and you always felt we had a chance regardless of opposition. I look it now and it's seems so far away, fair enough we have players in the present that are capable, but don't play effectively enough or there's nowhere near the consistency shown in the aforementioned era.

Wasn't a bad Christmas, Wolfie. Hope yours was decent also.

And yes, totally robbed. That ball over the line wasn't even close. Feel sorry for young Shaw. Perfectly good goal not given on his Ed derby debut. That's the second time in a few years...... Super Leigh a few years back..... ball a foot over the line. Farcical. But I suppose the fact that they're delighted with the 0-0 speaks volumes. They really are sh*t.

He was on loan from Arsenal.
Remember him most from the game at Reading that season when we took the lead on the 90th minute through Darren Bent and we all went mental in the away end thinking we had won the game and then Karbasiyoon then made a mistake which led to Reading equalising almost immediately.
Really felt like a defeat at the final whistle.

Good stuff, Wolfie. Those Wolves just keep on marching on.

My butt cheeks weren't even touching my green plastic seat yet when Boyd scored for Killie. Finished 1-1 and an unbelievably frustrating afternoon. Lennon has them playing well, plenty shots, just no luck.

Regarding ITFC, don't think anyone can complain about the Derby 2nd goal. Bailkowski might've been able to make some attempt for it, but I'm always critical of the keepers.

trouble these days the ball moves about so much, must be a nightmare for goalkeepers.
Pep Guardiola's take on the ball used in the football league, http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... l-13807979

young Wolvo lad Sam Winnall is proving a talent these days, when he was a kid on our books it was said he would become the first 100 million British player. suppose there's still time. I bet MM would like him at the Town,
