Chambo and Skuse as the new player management duo... with Mick moving upstairs as Director of Football.
We’re not getting rid of Mick that easy.

Ipswich shirts will get put in a box and put in the attic if it’s “The Fanny”.

If we ended up with Billy Davies id just give up. That guy is a terrible manager and his Derby side was more defensive and boring than our current one!Bluemike wrote:Billy Davies

I notice Danny Cowley had suddenly become the favourite, id be willing to take a chance on him. Nothings guaranteed in life but risk v reward and all that

Bilic is an interesting call. Would be interesting if the final shortlist came down to Bilic & McLaren.
Thanks Frosty for the thread!

I like the idea of Bilic, but it will never happen. Its a shame Monk has already gone to Brum as I like him

Re: Towns Next Manager Rumour Thread
I'd like to see a young, progressive manager in charge. I really don't want a washed out manager to the tune of Pardew or McClaren. I'd like to think there are managers out there who can work well within ME's tight budget. Imho, the main thing most of the ITFC faithful want is a return to good quality football. I've never understood the argument that playing good football will only lead to more defeats. That one baffles me. Regardless of what happens during a transitional period, clever football tactically and skillfully will result in success to a degree.
Exciting times now for ITFC...now go on then, get your season tickets!!!

I would hang fire on that one. Wait until McLaren, Davies, Pardew, Curbishley and WarFanny are all out of the equation.number 9 wrote:...now go on then, get your season tickets!
Agree with the Steve Clarke idea. He has done a great job at Killie and would be a good appointment. Don’t think the Killie fans would be too pleased!

That's the nub of it for me No.9. And it's why investment is the key to success in this league (in most cases). If you have money you can buy the most technically gifted players with the best brains. If you don't you are left with only the option of how to neutralise the best players that some of the other teams have. That's been Mick's problem with us. He has only had enough money to bring together a good team at spoiling other, often better, teams and has had to implement a style of quick breaks and sometimes hoofball to create scoring opportunities.
Actually I think our quality has quietly been on the rise over the last 18 months also but most of our talent has spent most of this time on the treatment table.
Maybe a manager like Bilic with the same level of investment that Mick had can bring about an improvement, just like Mick did, but after a few years we will be experiencing another Groundhog Day.
So I can't get excited about the new manager talk until it's clearer what approach ME will take.
I'm not happy that Mick is leaving mostly because judging from the crisis meeting that happened yesterday, I suspect we have learned a great deal about ME's intent, or lack of it.

McLaren sharing 2/1 with Cowley scares the absolute Shyte out of me. Jaysus H.
Fannyheid @ 9/1 also isn’t thrilling. Frightening more like.,
What about John McGreal? Would anyone be unhappy with this appointment? Big step up but seems to verge more on being attack-minded.

I do not want any bloody ex Town players, it does my sodding head in at the mere suggestion TBH. Nor do I want McLaren, Davis or Warburton.

I'm a fan of Silva's too. Many will argue he failed at Hull and Watford with much more money than ITFC. I still think he's a progressive manager in the mould of a future brilliant manager. I'm not sure ITFC is right for him at the moment, though.twinpeakes wrote:No to former town players

The only reason your sh*tting your pants Marco is if it is McLaren you've got to install me a new boilermarko69 wrote:McLaren sharing 2/1 with Cowley scares the absolute Shyte out of me. Jaysus H.

Installing your boiler while discussing League One football! You better have good Ipswich Town stories to tell from days gone by....... I’m not interested in League One or any golf “hole in one” Shyte-ey stories!!

Re: Towns Next Manager Rumour Thread
No, didn’t think it was a dig, Mike...... I genuinely forgot he once played for the club. I’ve since looked at an old Ipswich v Crystal Palace programme and he’s in the team. Alzheimer’s kicking in. Neighbour was out this morning walking his dog....., lived in the street for 9 years and I completely forgot his name.Bluemike wrote:LOL, I wasn't having a dig at you Marko, it just isn't the way forward for me.marko69 wrote:Oops, I forgot McGreal played for Ipswich! Seems most folk seem to know what they don’t want.....no pussies or, presumably, pri*ks. Out of choice, i’d prefer the former
