Why not let Gerard Nash step up and see the season out?

What happened towards MM was totally appalling though the team selection says it all.

Let Gerard have a go and be in charge for remaining games. Be better for everybody and never know he might just do a really good job. Not bad at under 23 level.

Was always going to be a game that was going to be scrutinised after the big summer news, and for me , it didn’t matter a jot who he put on the park. Bart aside, the players didn’t turn up. And they’re getting away witn it, AGAIN.

f**king pussies need to show up and play some football.

 We should have someone like Neil Harris of MillWall in charge, :D by the FK he really has Millwall flying, and there's no big time names in the team, just shear hard graft and team work, would not surprise me one bit if they can get into the playoffs, just one point off, they could win the play offs and promotion to the premiership, see Mick that's how you organise your players, not Fooking defensive clueless tactics, get in there and smash up the opposition, and Mick wonders why the fans are against him, he just takes the p*ss out of the fans who have paid good money to watch a pile of sh*t turning out.

Really depressing reading Bluemike, and though i don't attend any games anymore it must be so demoralising for the fans that give their hard earned money and sacrifice time away from their families to see an acute lack of effort and a team bereft of ideas and serious application.

Its a real shame in my opinion that Mick does,nt just leave straight away I mean the 200k can't make that much of a difference to him. Like what was written earlier above the results don't even p*ss me off anymore.....sheer apathy has set in and taken over. I expect to loose every game home or away, and I don't even see us scoring home or away. I guess i still have a little blind optimism but this season can't end quickly enough.

I hope the right appointment and some reasonable investment in the close season can awake some enthusiasum passion and interest. I don't expect to walk the championship which is a very tough league to get out of,but I do expect us to compete.

Believe said on Those Were The Days that there's no logic to McCarthy leaving before end of season. Of course McCarthy is as obstinate as the day is long, so it shouldn't come as any real surprise that he would want to keep his as* in position as long as he is able. We know it's only a month or so until the time arises, but given an option between being out of work and missing out on a substantial paycheck in the time in question - to remaining in an employment capacity and salary with it - you got to understand the situation.

Furthermore read on the aforementioned website yesterday that a section of the support wasted no time in berating the manager almost from the get-go yesterday, and McCarthy was subjected to a certain degree of castigation from some (perhaps inebriated) fans in attendance, that ultimately upset others who were present and took issue first and foremost with the fact that where's the sense in berating the individual further when he's already agreed to part company with the club.

I don’t see the point in fans berating or abusing MM.

Apart from senseless over-the-top abuse, it will just provoke MM into being far more beligerant.

From the outside, it looks like Ipswich fans are being unnecessarily harsh on MM and he’s been driven out.

Whilst it’s good he’s leaving and we can have a fresh start ... don’t see the point of aggravating and re-opening fresh wounds. The abuse won’t work anyway and Micks happy to play the aggrieved party. Some fans seem to want the nastiness to continue a bit too much.... the only party who will suffer is our club.

It seems the players had to have a police escort to the team bus to keep their OWN fans at bay, bloody ridiculous!!

Mike did you see or hear any problems within the ground? I listened on the radio and the only time I heard anything was when we made a sub in the 2nd half and the fans were chanting Mick McCarthy get out of our club. Stuart Watson suggested that fans were singing cheerio at half time which you alluded to.

More worrying for me is what you are saying happened after the game, I would never want to see that, we are in real danger of causing a divide between players and supporters, and in many ways some of our fans are proving MM right about what he says. I don't think the "real" Ipswich fan is like that but we certainly have a few, I always think those few often only ever attend London away days too. I sometimes avoid going to them now as I get fed up with some of the fans that attend London/Norwich away, its definitely a different set to many who travel further afield. I also hear from someone that Hyam may have said f*ck off to lower tier as he walked off, and Bart looking very dejected. All of this is a recipe for disaster.

Mick is going, even if its sh*te football between now and end of season there isn't many games left, just suck it up. I always felt he should have gone as soon as decision made, but that blame lies with Evans, for now us as supporters just to have to go with it and wait until the end. I see no point in causing further issues between fans and players, that could be irreversibly damaging

I witnessed the group of morons at the pub pre game who had openly stated on facebook etc that they were going with the intention of giving MM hell, ive seen them around away games before and as you say normally southern games, middle aged men who should know better. I also witnessed the constant anti mm chants from the moment they scored till the end and yes the cheerio chant etc at HT. I have also been led to believe the escort had to take place, Hyam telling some fans to f*ck off and confrontation between these prats and what I call proper fans who were disgusted by the events.

What sort of mind-numbing lives does this small, non-representative, bunch of morons live? Away travel, no matter how far from home, is not cheap. That so called supporters have the means to do so, but with the sole intention of hurling personal abuse at a dead man walking, and players who whilst limited in ability, nevertheless give 100% whilst wearing the shirt. Possibly says more about society’s wider problems.

If we get a young and upcoming manager to replace MM, he/they will need time to make an impact. There’s a lot to address. How long will the numbskull brigade be prepared to give?

I read elsewhere at first it will probably be "anyone but Mick" thought process so they probably will get a honeymoon period. Perhaps not jabbing at supporters even when tempted would be advisable to any new man. But you are right, I see no point in going to games, especially away, just to be anti ITFC which is what they are doing. If they dislike MM and want him gone then fine but that's happening anyway, just get behind the lads and show them that whilst there is clearly a divide the fans are with the players. If we are doing the opposite I can see big problems ahead.

makes me sad/angry to hear of this but I do know the crowd Mike refers to, I often see them on the train to London away games and ive had the displeasure of sitting near some of them at Norwich too.

It’s invariably the vocal minority who grab the limelight, whilst the silent majority - many of who have seen it all over the years - remain largely mute or stoic.

As well as on field stuff, the new manager has the added responsibility of providing a unifyng focus, pulling together some very fractured relationships. Ideally he should be doing so as part of a strong owner, CEO, manager trio. Sadly, he’s more likely to have to go it alone - something that, in the end, got to MM.

While I don’t agree with the numbskull’s behaviour, I do think MM has unfortunately brought this on himself. That’s the danger of getting into mud-slinging with the negative fans. I said all along Mick should have kept his comments to himself, but I do realize that’s a lot easier said than done. I just hope the players don’t alienate themselves from the fans who do support them.

Never forget a funny moment at Hampden, Charlton. Myself, my son and his pal were at a Cup Semi final and there were 7 or 8 empty seats to the side of wee Jamie, (sons pal) ......, he was delighted that there were no morons beside him. The old guy sitting next to me leaned over and said to him, "Don't be happy with that, son. Empty seats are a nightmare. It means they are all still in the pub and they're late!

Lo and behold......., 7 or 8, 19-20 year old all turned up reekin drunk and talking absolute shyte! I burst out laughing at poor Jamies face when they all stumbled in!

Great story! I know the feeling

Bad thing is I know ive been that reeking drunk guy talking shyte a few a times, I went to England V Wales a few years back and that was definitely me, although to watch England you often need to be that way!
