Good first post, MF.

I agree this game could be pivotal tomorrow. A draw would be very good. The fixture list has thrown up 3 winnable games so far to get things moving, but we’ve stumbled. Even if we’d have won a couple of those it would still be work in progress, but it would take the pressure off.

The players should have got Hursts message ..... we’ll see how they react.

Welcome to the site MF, great to have some new posters. I take Hurt's outburst in a favourable way and hopefully it has the desired effect although hearing Chambo today I think it has hit a few nerves.

Caption bet he wishes he could stick his head up his own arse.

I don't expect us to have as much possession as previous games so it will be interesting how we go. I think it may help us with the pace we have and the game will be more open. Can't see us keeping a clean sheet or scoring more than once, so I reckon 1-1.

Excellent preview, as always.

I'm new to posting here but I've been following the forum for a long time. Our start to the season has been underwhelming even allowing for the inevitable teething problems associated with a new manager, new players and bedding in a new system.

PH's condemnation of the players after the Exeter performance could go either way. If the players believe in him and buckle down to do what he wants then great. The danger is that they may take the view that he is blaming them for his tactical mistakes and he may lose the dressing room quickly. That could spell disaster. It does seem as if we are trying to play more attractive football but whether we have the players to execute that style remains an open question.

For all his faults, and they were many, MM got results, over the course of his tenure, that exceeded the individual and collective ability of the squad. It was dire to watch at times but, even last season when everything was coming apart , we started the campaign in flying form from a results point of view. Four wins from four if memory serves.

The time had come for a change and I agreed with the choice of PH as new manager. He has shown a great ability to succeed in the lower league. The v problem is that this is the championship and it is the toughest league in the country. I hope PH can overcome our bad start and in many ways this is the perfect opportunity to launch the new regime. Very few of us are expecting anything from the game. The players probably feel the same way. If we get a result, even if it's a draw, it could be just the thing to kick start a good season. If we lose I fear that confidence will slip away like sand through the manager's fingers and this could be a very long season indeed.

ITFC 1: Aston Villa 1

welcome to the forum buddy, thanks for making a post, I hope it's the first of many.

Chambers interview makes me a bit nervous to be honest. He is a key voice in that changing room and talks on behalf of a lot of players. He's too professional to come out and berate his own manager but I think he was struggling to talk about the other night, I don't think he was very happy. I'll stand by Hurst for his comments but it's a tricky delicate situation at the second. We really need a result soon, got everything crossed for some points today

If he continues to play Sears in the heart of our attacking formation, then can't see Hurst being here for long.

Hope this is where we start doing the business but Villa are virtually a prem side,we need to step up for this one,get all those midfielders launching at the goal mouth.

Didn’t have a good view for the second Edun yellow. Thought it looked innocuous, but it might have been more naughty than first thought. Even so... the refs a tw*t.

Cant see us holding out for 45 mins if we can’t deal with crosses.

Edwards looks heads above our other players. Real pity about that red.

Balls of brass!

No matter what happens in the last few minutes of the match this will do a huge amount for morale for the rest of the season. Over 50 minutes with ten men against a top team is a tremendous effort.

And it sounds like we had just as many chances to win it. Top stuff, shame for the red, but that'll be a boost.

Would have taken a point before the match kicked off, even more so once we were down to 10 men.
Well done PH and the team.

Not a win.... but just what we want ... the team put in a gutsy second half performance.

I hope Hursty gives the lads a hug. Dressing room should be ok tonight.

TBH.... Villa were sh*t. That boy with the c*ck on his head would have been more penetrative against 10 men.

Excellent result. Didnt make the game but listened to it on the wireless and the team played well. Were the Edun bookings worthy? Suffolk radio said first was harsh and second not a yellow. Shame if so as the ref ruined a great performance for town. Was also noted that the ref was giving everything villas way. But hey ho, a point is very welcome and the perdormance very promising. Looking forward to tuesday night with more interest.

Oh....and nice to see no "i told you so's" on here . After 3 games they are getting on my tits.

It feels a lot more than 1 point. Could be it’s a turning point.... or at least releases the pressure and put some good feel about.

I’ll probabaly remember a game like that more than a drab 1-0 win.

At half time I thought we could be on the end of a drubbing.... but the lads put in a great performance in the second half.

I thought Nolan did well in the second half as did so many of the team. Stand out man for me though was once again Edwards.
