Was speaking with an Arsenal fan earlier today and he mentioned (in so many words) 'that Gerken is a poor goalkeeper'
Where he gets the evidence to back up such a claim is hard to see. Realizes I'm an Ipswich fan of many years, but it's not as if he gets an accurate insight into games or follows events closely. Maybe checks our results now and again and as is the poor recent form, perhaps immediately jumps to conclusions. Didn't realize (also) Bialkowski is Polish or seemed unsure of the name so (it) speaks certain volumes.
One final word on the latter, signing that new deal was again a good move for the club. Bialkowski has shown he is an able player and has proved reliable on numerous occasion. Some will of course find issue with that, but there were so many times last season where he was solely responsible for match points. A goalkeeper like that can bring a team an additional 10 or 15 points a season.
Unfortunately it hasn't repeated thus far since opening day. Maybe he's had doubts or regret about the contract extension or doesn't seem to adapt to the new manager and players brought in. Pity really as he's a player of high potential that seems to have lost his way. As time goes on you may look back and wish we had sold him for a substantial fee, but would all the same hope he can find his form as once before.

Re: East Anglia Derby Preview & Matchday Thread
I think it speaks volumes that only Birmingham made an offer, enough said.
