One of the great goalkeepers.
I was lucky to see him play for both club and country.
RIP Gordon.

Best save ever RIP Gordon. Fortunate enough to see him play at PR.

I met him in the airport in Singapore while waiting for my stopover flight to Australia in 1991. We got chatting for about ten minutes or so. Just general chit chat. He was a gentleman to his fingertips. One of the greats. R.I.P.

Also heard this as I got into the car after work. One of the best and seems to have been a gentleman in every sense of the word.

Listened to Jack Butland talking about Banksey and 'The Save'

Apparently Bobby Charlton was the first man to him and asked him why he hadn't prevented it from going for a corner!

Never heard that before.

Sad loss for the whole game RIP

Watched him play many times for Leicester City, Stoke City and England, and what a great goalkeeper he was, his trademark always to make the save look easy. Sad today to learn of his passing away.

RIP Mr Banks and condolences to your family and many friends.

If not for Yashin and Schmeichel, could have been the best ever. You wonder if the English would have won the World Cup with another name. Was sorry to learn of this news. Not only a great player but a fine ambassador for the sport and gentleman with it. The game is poorer today with his passing.

Should have been awarded a Knighthood for services to sport - hell knows there's been other names less deserving - and if not for the car accident that brought about visual injury would have featured longer in the game at time of incident. Condolences to the immediate family. Heroes are something of an overused word in this industry but I think over time, such a label may just have been justified.
