Ok guys n gels, here’s a poll for you to vote in if you want to.

Just thought it’d be good to test the consensus of opinion , and thank god we are not involved in this lottery!

Hope I’ve created the poll correctly ..,,

I hate the play offs, just imagine being a Notts county fan they were 23 points ahead of Chesterfield who they now meet at Wembley, so although they were much the better side over 46 games they could lose out.

I don’t think they will though.

Up the Owls. For me the same rules apply as for Notts Cpunty. Sheffield Wednesday were only 2 points behind town and deserve promotion for that alone, Barnsley meanwhile we’re 12 points behind us.

I hate the play offs too but it's Barnsley for me, by far the best footballing side out of the Four, Sheff Wed can do one with their cocky, arrogant, "we've already won it" fans, how bloody stupid do they look now !! Also can't stand that grubby little club just up the road, tosser of a chairman with a gob the size of the Mersey. Not keen on Bolton either, they still to this day feel cheated in "that play off"

Agree the play-off criteria in the English Leagues is unfair and too big a lottery. Here (Germany) the third bottom team of the higher division plays the third placed in the lower one. Has anyone an alternative solution or should it be automatic promotion/demotion for all three teams?

I also would like to thank Mike and all of you who contribute to making this such an interesting forum. This is now particularly important with EADT’s new online and often pathetic reporting.

For the record I am an 87 year old Suffolk “bor” who saw my first Ipswich game aged 9 standing on the old open terraces. Unfortunately due to working and living abroad I have missed out of actively being a part of all the highlights, including as long ago as 1962.

Delighted we can again hold our heads up higher than in the past 20 years. Once a blue, always a blue!

I’d like Barnsley to go up via PO’s they are by far the best footballing team for me… ( I hate the PO’s lottery btw)….. and because it’s a lottery and essentially about 3 cup finals and not who’s the best team by this point, I can see Peterborough doing it. It depends which Posh turns up though. They’re either brilliant or crap aren’t they …

Oh Rodenback Ex-Pat , what an absolute privilege to have you on this forum …. I think I’ve seen you post before? Please keep posting. Do you get to see us via ifollow? What a season you’ve missed and I just get this feeling that next season we will take a few by surprise. Our style and tempo will catch a few out . It’s Top 6 for me 👍

I too enjoyed reading your post Rodenbach Ex-pat and like Liz I’d welcome hearing more from you too. I’d also welcome a single “German Style” play off involving 3rd top from the lower league playing 3rd bottom of the higher league maybe over two legs. This would be much fairer and rid us of the current lottery, however with it being far less of a money spinner than our current arrangement I don’t see it ever happening.

I have just started using Brave as a search engine and if you use the Advanced options and select Block scripts it allows you to read the EADT articles in full.

Well that's a lot easier and less hacky than my method. Good to know, thanks.

Have been using Firefox and I don't think it has an option for scripts like that, but I do have Brave as a backup for when my Firefox settings inevitably break some site for me.

Lol I DID think about that, but thought I’d be focused on something that we won’t have to worry about happening to us now 😁👍

Watching Pboro b Sheff Weds and I am just sooooooooo glad to be out of that league. I couldn't care less about finishing second to Plymouth - it was all about automatic promotion cos I couldn't stand being in these games after 4 years in that shitty (but hard to escape) league 💙

I must admit that result has pleased me. I didn't think I would be that bothered. But that will definitely shut the Wednesday fans up. Side note, Darren Moore will be sacked after the 2nd leg.

Yes - its sad for Darren Moore who seems a thoroughly nice bloke. I also think Steve Schumacher comes across as a really good, well grounded bloke as well. With those two plus our Kieran, there are some really good young managers out there in lower leagues. Good luck to them all.

I can’t believe how one sided that game was although to be fair I only watched the second half. Just shows the dangers of finishing 3rd and playing the 6th placed team who’ve scraped in last minute by the skin of their teeth and can play care free football.

Just glad it’s The Owls in trouble and not us. 👍
