Happy Independence Day!
Yes well I’m Americanized! Thank god for the good ole USA! The best decision I ever made in my life was moving to the States permanently. Don’t get me wrong, I miss England & my family so so much. If I would’ve stayed in the UK after finishing school, I’d probably be in prison haha!
Come on then, grill some burgers & hotdogs! It’s fuckin Independence Day!
Happy July 4th!!!

Happy Independence Day to you too Number9!
Can't say I blame you mate, if I was 20 years younger I'd probably do the same as this country has gone down the pan. Yes, there are lots to miss about the UK, ITFC being a biggy, oh and a few friends, family no lol.
I may well have a burger for tea tomorrow and a small beer to toast you all

Myself and Ohio the only (true) americans around here although it's nearly always been that way. Some member called Scott Candage years back also but disappeared off scene a long time ago.
Won't be making no song and dance of it tomorrow. 15, 20 years back it would have been a celebration, made a day and a half of it but times change and so does the person. Hamburger and beer (?), I'm vegetarian and non-drinker so f*ck that, won't be nothing stronger than coffee and soda.
Despite all and any changes and whatever sh*t life throws your way, you got to rise above any adversities to acknowledge certain calendar dates. Get up to something maybe late on tomorrow, after all there is a certain prestige or honor to uphold or believe in.

Re: Happy Independence Day!
Both of my daughters have emigrated to the US and never looked back. My youngest moved to Manhattan in 2013 and has subsequently crossed the country to the west coast and now lives in the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood of Los Angeles. My eldest went to Westport Connecticut 2 years later and has recently decided it will be their forever home. We have 4 grandchildren there, the youngest two (5 & 2) were born in New York, the eldest two who are now 12 can’t remember anything about their previous life living in London.
Before the kids moved there apart from a couple of days in Miami to pick up a cruise ship neither my wife or I had spent any time in the US, we now try to spend 6 weeks a year there and love it.
Just like No9 has said, moving to America was probably the best decision they and their husbands have ever made and one they will never regret. The grandkids know no different, but omg if only they knew how lucky they are.

Yes Happy Independence Day to those it relates to.
How can you blame anyone for jumping ship from this damn country to move to the states, or anywhere for that matter, I find Britain so bad and depressing now I think I'd think about the North Sentinel Islands as an alternative.

I'm sure you've explained before, but I'm curious to know how you became an Ipswich Town FC fan??arana peligrosa wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 3:03 amMyself and Ohio the only (true) americans around here although it's nearly always been that way. Tell you what, Saint, with all your "tomorrow" references in a 3am, 4th July post, you've got to celebrate that you weren't around for the party that day ----->>> you'd have missed it.

Re: Happy Independence Day!
Shame what’s happened to Britain. Once an isle of individualism, now a net to catch the fleeing citizens of f*cked up governments. I remember walking down the road in London, not sure about my safety…but at ease. Now London is a pot of everything that hates democracy. What a shame. I remember being proud of my heritage, now we’re restricted from being proud. I remember walking the streets of Ipswich, blue shirt & finger toward the yellow & greens. I remember, feeling like I belonged. Not anymore…I’m glad I left this country behind.
Btw I was born in Illinois, so Saint or whatever his name is now is wrong. I’m an American and proud of it!

Not a bad pint of Guinness can be found in Spain too these days, gone are the days when Guineas didn’t travel well. Even better only 3€ a pint.

I certainly don’t regret jumping ship Mike albeit only to Spain where we’re now in our 5th year. My only regret is not doing it earlier given how much better the quality of life is here.

Nine I always thought you a Brit, kind of feel a need to apologize for any misunderstanding but we move on. Myself born and raised in Minneapolis, It's a fine City with a great bunch of people. Famous names and heritage, carries a certain pride with it. (Seasonal) Weather and climate not for everyone.
Was thinking just recent do Brits actually realize or understand what July 4 is really all about. I'd take the time to explain in detail but it's far more than just gaining an independence. Fascinating history and timeline but it'd be wasted on many. Guess why would English Scots and Welsh etc be interested or wanting to learn American history.

Lets not forget that your history around independence is also our history as it involved us both as nations

Sorry I missed this one, the 4th is always fun. Good reason to fire up the grill, drink some beer and watch fireworks.
Every year the family watches the musical, 1776. One of my favorites.
