Was just looking at the ticket price for the Sheffield Wednesday away game. £40.50 for an adult ticket to watch 2nd tier football seems a ridiculous price to me. Worked out that for a family of 4 ( 2 adults and 2 children aged between 6 and 10) it would cost £104 for their tickets alone. Then you have to add on travelling costs and eats as well.
I often hear the term “football should be inclusive for all” but at these prices for some it is difficult to see how it can be. Before anybody asks, no I’m not going even though being an old git I could get a ticket for £30.50.
That’s my moan for the day but was wondering what others thought of this.

I think its shocking to be honest, and to think loads of fans are buying away tkts with no intention of going just to get the extra point on their membership total.

I guess football is inclusive to all, you can watch crap football for free most days of the week anywhere in the country. I guess the problem is when you're starting to sell out your stadium, it makes obvious business sense to match demand with your pricing. After all, if every ticket in Portman Road was made £10 cheaper, you'd essentially be tipping £300,000 in to the Orwell every fortnight and waving it on it's merry way.

Town still have to be one of the more affordable teams in the division right? And the exciting football currently on offer has to make them one of the best value? Town average season ticket price is £398, 17th in the league (though partly down to early renewals apparently), up in Delia's backyard toilet it's £635, the worst in the league.

Season ticket prices at PR in comparison to other clubs do seem reasonable. Don’t know what the match day ticket prices are but apparently we now use a category system. The problem seems to be away games, I know fans from several clubs have complained about what we have charged in the past and Leeds fans certainly weren’t happy about what they had to pay for the game the other week. It has been rumoured that they will charge us £49 for an adult ticket when we play up there although we will have to see.
It just seems that the way things are going some fans will be priced out of attending away games.
The Premiership clubs all agreed to a price cap of £30 for away fans in 2022 for a 3 year period and I feel it is time that Championship clubs came up with a similar idea.

I'm sure there's a loads of demand too, but d'ya reckon they pump up away prices to stop scallies making the trip?!!

Southampton away is £25 for comparison, its just Shef Weds ripping people off - inc their own home fans who are one of the highest price tickets in the league.

Remember its ALWAYS supply and demand, IF people buy it for X price someone will charge X price to supply it, peole think it works the other way round but price is driven by the end consumer and not the supplier.

I.e you can make a car for £20k and people will buy it, but there are also people who will buy a car for £5m if they deem it worth it.

Its a catch 22.

At higher prices, customers ease off...... so there is drop in demand.

Drop in demand? ......, less numbers, but suppliers want same end "money numbers" ---->> prices go higher.


There is also a greedy b*stard element. SheffWed & Leeds may be guilty of this along with most, (If not all) oil companies. The main difference between Shell & SheffWed though is the former is pretty much a necessity, the latter a "take it or leave it" football club. (Like all football clubs)

I suspect Town’s large away following history also impacts upon the price. They know Town will request large numbers of tickets so they will cash in on it. It’s good old supply and demand curve isn’t it. Money grabbing Tosses .

Cost of living and all that Rupert. Everything goes up in cost, food, water, gas, you name it, there's price hikes wherever you find them. "Football" is no exception. Maybe in time it'll reach a zenith where enough is enough and it'll all go to sh*t but until then you got to accept certain situation.

Even in lower league you got club names like Notts County asking fans over £ 20 for home attendance and seniors not far behind whereas a season pass won't see much change from 350. If SWFC are looking to set such high price standard guess it's because they view themselves as one of the more illustrious names outside of the EPL with something of a once-achievements history. Hillsborough accommodates what 40,000 or something. Think some clubs set prices just where they view themselves or think they should be.
