I see the above former Town academy player we let go to Arsenal back in 2019 has been sold for a reputed fee of £1m

Could we be in line to receive a payout or is this unlikely if we simply released him. I think he was with us for about 3yrs but would only have been 16 when we let him go.

I think this is the problem with bigger clubs taking academy players off smaller clubs. The smaller club rarely gets a true value for the development of the young player. The fee agreed at the time often “ sounds” good, but when the big clubs later sell that player on I don’t think a sell on fee is ever paid. Hardly surprising Brentford ditched their academy really.
