I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
Shades of The Beat about him. Power, pace & takes no prisoners. That was NOT a foul!

….and to think there were some on here who weren’t in the least impressed when we signed him and even more harsh after his debut own goal.
I’d like to see us sign him but if we don’t he’ll have no problem finding another club and could even still make it at Premier League level.

I was one of them, looked poor first couple of games, just as many raved about Clarke are having second thoughts now.
The guy next to me yesterday reckons Man Utd will definitely recall Williams in January which is a distinct possibility.

Yep, sticking my hand up for this, when he first started I thought the worst, but he has settled and starting to show what he can do.
That play and his goal yesterday was brilliant.
Was just dreaming too, wouldn't it be great if we could retain Williams and Hutchinson, they definitely add to the team and I dare say a few permanents are looking over their shoulders.

Re: I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
I looked at the videos of Williams when we signed him and I thought he looked a helluva player. His goal yesterday was constantly being shown on those player videos of him in a Man Utd shirt. So it was certainly a one off yesterday. You can’t expect him to immediately hit the ground running at a new club in new surroundings on the back of a lengthy time out injured. We are now seeing that quality come through.he’s PL through and through.
This next step up is the business end of the Club’s continued development and I have no doubt the financial implications attached to that progression is not lost on the owners. If is feasible to sign players like Williams, and McKenna wants players like this , the owners will do it I’m sure. Give McKenna the players he needs to do his job and he will deliver.

Think United do have a year option on it though. The other problem would no doubt be wages if what has been said on various outlets that he is on anything between 40-60 grand a week at United.hallamblue wrote: ↑Sun Oct 08, 2023 9:54 amWilliams is in the last year of his contract though …so January will be interesting won’t it

Re: I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
I was telling one of my lifelong Man United fan golf mates only yesterday morning how well he was playing for us and he was scathing about how stupid Ten Hag was letting him go especially with the injuries they’re had at the time. I think they T’s have also been happy selling him at the time. Hopefully both Martinez and Luke Shaw will both be fit by January and Williams surplus to requirements, we can only hope.
I guess when we signed him I was lucky to have seen him play quite a few times for Man Utd and just knew we’d struck lucky.
Again we’re so blessed to have McKenna at the helm.

That's because TH does not recognize talent...and I'm fine with us benefitting from his ignorance.

Re: I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
I have read today that Williams is on a season long loan so it all depends if there is a recall clause in the deal.

Excellent performance, looks like a very good player. But I'd give a foul for that every time. Two footed as far as i can see.

Re: I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
Unless Utd WANTED to have him back ( I think they’re they tend to look at big name players first, second and third) I can’t see that clause being there from them and I think Ashton / McKenna are too cany to allow it to be included, don’t you?

Ashton is no mug and I'm sure we are protected as much as was possible at the time

Re: I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
Given he’s out of contract at the end of the season maybe there’s a buy option included at the end of the loan period.

Thats what I said. Look don't get me wrong, I love the passion but when I saw it in real time, he definitely takes the guy out on the shin - no question for me - it was a red card. Very happy it wasn't given and yes I love the passion and yes we have been wanting someone to tackle like that for years... but if the shoe was on the other foot, there would have been uproar if they had taken one of our players out like that. Just saying...!

Re: I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
There was uproar in the stands when PNE took our players (more than once) out, in the first half and didn’t even get a yellow. Weak ref.
I’ve looked at the video and for me it looks like BW gets the ball first . Momentum takes him through the okayed after the ball was taken. Agreed it looks reckless , but perhaps if the ref had been stronger first half…..?!

The shoe was on the other foot, several times and Williams was the recipient of one of those so if they can't take it they shouldn't dish it out, FWIW I didn't think the tackle was that bad tbh.Blue Wilf wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 4:26 pmThats what I said. Indeed it was Mike and I for one was certainly in uproar when it happened! Look - its water under the bridge now but first hand, my reaction was a cringe (in case he was off) but fortunately it didn't happen. I just hope his passion does not cause us an issue one day after 15 mins when we end up playing with 10 men for an hour or more - thats my point. Time will tell!Bluemike wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 5:07 pmThe shoe was on the other foot, several times and Williams was the recipient of one of those so if they can't take it they shouldn't dish it out, FWIW I didn't think the tackle was that bad tbh.Blue Wilf wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 4:26 pmThats what I said. Fear not, we only need 10 men to beat most of this division

Tbh he doesn’t come across as a red must , headless chicken type of player. Likely a one off or just sheer determination to win the game .
No probs here Wilf ok x

Re: I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
The contract situation is weird, he is on 50k a week and UTD have an option to extended for a year. So many possibilities;
1- he leaves on a free and can go anywhere end of this season, Utd don’t trigger the option.
2- UTD trigger the option and sell him, they’d need to get at least 2.5m fee to cover to extra year salary, of course they could sell for less but then you also have the issue of him wanting similar salary - or he might..
3 - have his contract extended and he opts to stay and take his 2.5m salary for one last year.
4- some sort of deal is done on Jan where UTD get a fee and player somehow gets money to compensate for his lost wages.

Re: I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
The issue as I see it, is that until United gets sold to a buyer with a long term interest in the future of the club, short term decisions will continue to be random. This may or may not work in our favour.
Our biggest problem will be the better he plays the more other clubs will follow his progress and the higher his value increases.
Hopefully we have a buy option at the end of the loan at an agreed price.

It would also be governed by where the player wants to go as well, I’d have thought. Not many players come here and then want to leave .

Re: I bloody LOVE Brandon Williams
But it would be odd to have a buy option for an out of contract player….. could easily be manipulated by the player and buying club to stiff UTD so can’t see that being the case.
