Serious question; do most of you actually go in for all the analysis and logistics and stats etc etc?

Must admit, the older i get, I cannot be feckin arsed with any of it. Just play your best 11, bust a gut for the club (and your wages) and what will be will be. The analysis stuff seems to suck the enjoyment out of the sport. Just my opinion of course.

There is a double header meaning to this post though……… usually when someone says, “shove yer stats up yer arse”……. It generates OVERLY analytical chat.

So, come on. Let’s hear yer wind & pish guys!! :D

Tbh with my anxiety levels ( lol), I do tend to put my fingers in my ears regarding CS rivals and go “ la La La La la” as it is as I can’t allow myself to worry more about what others are doing. BUT, having said that I actually feel if we can gone through Dec virtually unscathed i think we will be difficult to catch …. Did I just say that

Agree 100%. What are statistics anyway? Just an analysis of history, and we all know you can make numbers say anything you want if you know how to manipulate them. It's the here and now that matters.

So you've never learnt from your past? History matters too.

No reason why anyone as a supporter should care or pay attention to any stats, we're only in it for the enjoyment, so do what you enjoy and ignore what you don't. For modern football clubs however, statistics, analysis, science, whatever you want to call it, is an important and integral part of the way things are done. Statistics are only ever as strong as those who interpret them, but the other bottom line is without them you're not winning anything at the highest level anymore.

Anyway, not sure why this has turned in to a thread on statistics  there don't seem to be any in the original link apart from a bit of form stuff??

well, for somebody who is not sure why this thread has turned into a statistics thread, you've sure made a contribution :) .
And I think you're choosing to mis-interpret what I'm saying.

Team A plays Team B - Team B wins the game 1-0
Team A - possession 99%, shots 75, shots on target 74
Team B - possession 1%, shots 1, shots on target 1

Fabulous stats for Team A, but in a week's time they will be forgotten. Poorer stats for Team B, but the 3 points gained will be there for the rest of the season.
