Town skipper Sam Morsy will miss Friday’s home game against QPR having been handed a one-game ban for a breach of FA Rule E3.1 following the 2-0 win away against his old club Middlesbrough earlier this month.
An FA statement reads: “Sam Morsy has been suspended for one match and fined £5,000 for a breach of FA Rule E3.1 following Ipswich Town’s EFL Championship fixture against Middlesbrough on Saturday 9th December.
“The Ipswich Town midfielder admitted that he acted in an improper manner and/or used abusive words and/or behaviour towards a match official in or around the changing rooms, following the completion of the fixture. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a hearing.”
A Town statement reads: “Sam accepts the charge, and both the club and the midfielder will make no further comment.”
The Blues captain remains on nine bookings with a 10th leading to a two-match ban.
FFS, great news.

Disappointing and it won't be long before the two match ban I'm afraid.

Well, will he actually have his yellow cards wiped clean by the next time he plays ( Stoke away New Year’s Day) CB? Mike snd I were talking about this and all yellows get wiped clean in the new year don’t they. So he’s got a one match ban v QPR …. Then we’re in the new year!

He has to get to 32 games Liz so no chance of avoiding a ban.

On a positive note Morsy has told Egypt this morning that he is not available for the ACON tournament.

Don’t know specific but wonder if he commented re the booking he got in that game right at the end for kicking ball away … think it was that game.

Apparently words exchanged in the changing room area, post match. Linked to the booking for (apparently!) deliberately kicking the ball away etc.
Presumably, however, he’ll still serve a two game ban if he gets booked post QPR ban. Have to wonder if Sam’s reputation goes before him so far as some refs are concerned. Personally I wouldn’t want him any other way. He’s a natural born leader. Grateful he’s binned the AAFCON jamboree!

Now Morsy picked up his latest yellow and is band for 2 games - is the FA cup game included? I'd hope so but guess not!

Unfortunately not. So means he will miss the Sunderland and Leicester games.
