A great read, I must admit I didn't realise just how broke we were. Such a sudden demise.

Excellent read. Must admit this is one of the things that concern me when some people are saying spend millions on transfers and redevelop the Cobbold stand. Yes we seem to be lucky in that we have responsible owners and they will look at the long term future of the club. However, as we know things can change very quickly in football and we have to be very careful in how we progress.

A good read and an all too common story of 'victims of their own success'. The stand was obviously a large part of the financial issue, but it seems that players demanding division leading salaries (perhaps deservedly so after they had led the club there), was perhaps the unsustainable strain, not helped by player values dropping. I didn't realise the 'bottom fell out the player market', I can't imagine that has happened since? It seems to have been a reliable exponential rise for as long as I can remember.

It could be argued that similar happened in 2000, we ordered the two end stands, which at the time seemed completely logical, you do not expect to be relegated so soon after finishing 5th. I'm not sure they had a huge impact on the relegation (though perhaps it altered which players were recruited), but it was surely the biggest outlay that led to the inability to bounce back to the Premiership following relegation, the administration of the club, and eventually the wonderful period of ownership from you know who. It's great to have them now we're filling the stadium again, the club needed them, but it does add a 'what if'.

"It's easier to get to the top than stay there"... That is what I was always told.

Itcwas all of the above bug the biggest factor was thd collapse of digital TV. Thats what stuffed us. We lost vauksbld income AFTER we'd committed to players contracts. It'd be a big like Sky going under after we'd signed half a dozen new0 players over the coming weeks.

As a West Stand season ticket holder at the time I was well aware this.

With the 777 takeover of Everton as good as collapsed I can see Everton’s new stadium taking them into liquidation and the consequences that go with it.

Add to this Leicester City’s potential points deduction there may well be only one relegation spot left for us to avoid next May.

Yip, which is why I wanted Leeds to go up via PO’s as I’m sure they’d be due a points deduction too.

Ah, so the TV income is probably what affected the transfer market? It wasn't a seemingly random, stock market style crash. Interesting that's not mentioned in the article...

Well it definitely happened, so I don’t why it’s not mentioned. Does seem odd though that it wasn’t ….
