Cajuste or Phillips?
Looks like both will be available for selection against Forest, so who would you pick and why?
I'm a fan of Phillips but the Morsy/Cajuste CM partnership has brought us our two best results of the season so far IMO. So I'm not sure I would break it up....

Definitely Cajuste for me, not been overly impressed with Phillips in a few games.

What's the deal, we have to sign him if we stay up, but we'll lose him if we're relegated? That has to be a factor too, he's more important to our longer term ambitions than Phillips.

Re: Cajuste or Phillips?
To be honest they’re two very different players who play very different roles in a team. I think defensively we should be more solid with Phillips but I’d be interested to know how much ground he covers in a game as his fitness level which is questioned sometimes is important as is his ability to see out 90 mins.
Meanwhile Cajuste’s preferred position is central midfield where he is by far the best of our squad to play alongside Morsy and I think the two could develop a great partnership. He looks by far the best option going forward and is fit enough to cover a large area of the pitch, chase back to defend when necessary and I think will have a higher successful pass rate and give away possession less although I don’t have the stats to prove this.
If there’s only room for one of these in the team I’d have Cajuste every time as he’s the best partner we have for Morsy who looks even better with Cajuste alongside him.

Agreed, that tackle by Cajuste when he chased down Garnacho I believe was superb, had he not got it right they either score or get a penalty and we get a Red card.

I thought Cajuste seemed more comfortable with what he's been asked to do, Philips maybe has more to catch up on.

I think its horses for courses for me. There will be games where Phillips defensive ability are going to be really called for and other where Cajuste is by far the better choice. I'd actually like both of them in the side as I think they are both quality. Phillips still has a bit to get to where he can be, I suspect the same with Cajuste also

Yeah I agree, I'd like to see both of them in the side without sacrificing Morsy. I think that would be a very strong midfield in an appropriate formation.valleyroad wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2024 8:37 amI agree with all of this.
