Forest Fan in Peace

Unlucky on Saturday, I felt that we just about edged it, but you're going to cause a lot of teams problems this year. We've played the 3 promoted teams and you were definitely the hardest challenge. Chaplin is a good player and your keeper looks solid.

I like Ipswich and I feel our clubs have had a similar trajectory; both clubs are steeped in history, both clubs have had some of the finest managers to grace the game (Ramsey, Robson, Clough), both clubs had a long gap out of the Premier League after a spell in League One, both clubs have a traditional stadium. I'm also a farmer, so I'll always have a soft spot for the Tractor Boys :D

You remind me of Forest when we got promoted a couple of seasons ago; the key is making Portman Road an intimidating place to play football, you have to target games like Palace at home tomorrow. I think we got about 80% of our points at home when we first came up. I've no doubt you're already doing this, but you 100% need to back the manager. There were lots of rumours swirling around Steve Cooper in our first PL season, but the fans stayed behind him in and that was a big factor in staying up.

I genuinely mean this when I say Good Luck for the rest of the season; it's ridiculously tough out there; you have to focus on that mini league of 6 at the bottom of the table, think about strengthening in some areas in Jan, but above all, ENJOY IT :D

Cheers mate and well done for Saturday, without sounding patronising I think that was by far the worst we've played for a few games now, certainly the second half but credit to you guys, maybe you made us look how we did, it's always easy to not praise the opposition but over the piece you definitely deserved to win.

You are right about the mini league and yes Portman Road does need to be a fortress and it absolutely has to start tomorrow, failure to win that and I for one will be worrying, then if we back it up Sunday at home to Bournemouth the table will look much better.

You guys have done really well and are definitely my surprise packages so far, keep it going and who knows where you'll finish. I was in a bar in Turkey with a load of gobby Liverpool fans the day you beat them, it was on one of the TV's and boy did i take the p*ss lol. All the best.

Not really on taking the time to register and one response to show for it. Shows a certain disrespect or however you wish to pin it but I've never had any real animosity towards Nottingham Forest. We lit up the domestic and European scene together around the same time and with it, two club managers of tremendous caliber. It's a pity Clough was never given the national task of assisting the English as he's easily one of the very best never to do it. Greenwood was a mistake but it's all about hindsight.

You came close to winning the league in '95 or at least finished third while ourselves went down in end position, you may recall the opening game that season when Roy scored at Portman Road a fine goal on return from relegation to win it for you. Looking back it's a real shame that two club names that for a time could compete with the very best and find winning success in Europe fell away so rapidly for the rest of the decade although you did pick up to an extent with a League Cup win or something. Zenith Data Systems or Full Members Cup also (?)

Take this opportunity to wish Forest every success in the remainder of this season although should there be a face off in the F.A Cup next year then it's all about Town and nothing more. Thanks for stopping by, come back any time.

haha I love how most football fans unite when it comes to beating Liverpool!! We've played Southampton, Leicester, West Ham and Crystal Palace and if you thought you played poor on Saturday, these 4 teams were truly awful. 100% - it's all about focusing on that mini league, finishing 17th on goal difference is job done and then seeing if you can build on that.

My first game as a Forest fan was 1996 age 9, so I never fully appreciated those days. I've read that Robson always spoke highly of Clough and I believe he wanted Clough to get the England job as it would please the majority of football fans. I have a fond memory of a thriller at Portman Road, I think it was around 2003 and finished 3-4 to Forest; I think we were both going for the play-offs that season. I think I also have a fondness for Ipswich because our respective rivals (Norwich and Derby) both seem to suffer from delusions of grandeur!! Big game for you tomorrow - good opportunity as one of West Ham/Leicester has got to drop points.

Probably my favourite game ever was the Hamburg v Forest European Cup final.

Wasn't that a poor exhibition or lousy contest if memory serves. Robertson scored only goal but even with Keegan on the field and whole list of other illustrious names it just didn't live up to much or fell way below expectation. If you want an exciting Forest Cup Final I'd recommend the Everton game from 1989 that finished 4 - 3 although it were a real insignificant tournament or trophy to win. Stellar entertainment though, were right with it back at the time.

One final thought in that both us and Forest have given Manchester United both the record home and away victory scores since the start of the EPL. They scored eight at the City Ground near the end of the millennium and no team seems to have matched it before or since. Guess that's keeping with something.

Still learning something new every day it seems. No idea why but I have never heard of The Full Members' Trophy. Had to wiki it. Only lasted 1985-92.
That is crazy.
