This Quote Doesn't Ring True To Me

Post by The Odious Mr Rossi » Sat Jan 04, 2025 1:24 am

Was interested to read this quote from KM..................

“I don't think we've ever gone into two games in a row trying to execute the exact same plan in all phases".

I would be interested to see the percentage of games he has played 4-2-3-1 since he has been here - I'm betting it's pretty high and in my view definitely dictates many of the phases of our games.

He's not the Messiah - he's a very deluded boy. Just saying..................

It's an odd one for sure because I'm sure if everyone was honest it was hard to detect too many variances in the opening 15 games.

If he really does think that (and it seems that he does, cos he said it!), then that illustrates exactly the fear I had in that he was being blinded by his football philosophy to the exclusion of the bleeding obvious! We could always predict the same formation, followed by like for like subs on or around 65 minutes right up to the Spurs game. He has now, thankfully, changed tack and I hope he continues to make changes as our players abilities, the opposition and the game dynamics require! 🤞

I suppose he may be talking about such minor tweaks within the teams instructions that us mere mortals wouldn't notice it ? And in doing so retaining the usual 4-2-3-1

Was going to say exactly that Mike, it's undoubtedly true if he's talking about tweaks and aims at certain points of games... keep possession now, sit back, press, push up etc. It may all look the same to our eyes, but it's different from McKenna and the team's point of view.

Also there aren't only two options Rossi... mesiah or very deluded! There's a whole spectrum between those points where McKenna actually sits!

I wonder if his approach has been large guided by the calibre of player ot and available to him, that he has in the squad?

It'll be interesting to see if things change with the new players we bring in , and tbise we shift out.

I do like the recent formation change he's opted for and think we should continue with this if it gets us points and makes us hard to beat.
