Key dates

Post by shabba » Thu Jun 05, 2025 1:03 pm

Thought I'd start a thread to track the dates of things, will update with more firm dates/details as they are released.

Early June – Pre-season friendly announcements - should be soon.

13 June > 1st sept. Summer Transfer Window (also a premier league earlier one 1st-10th of June, before the main one opens on the 16th June)

26th June - Fixtures released for new season

Early July 2025 – Home and away kit launch - was 6th July last year

July 19th - Town vs Blau-Weiß Linz (A) - pre season friendly

8th August - season starts

Early to Mid-August 2025 – Third kit likely to be released

Pre season never really amounts to much. We seem to get each and every year handful of fixtures against local less established club names such as Cambridge and Haverhill with the odd continental no-thrills one throw in from some obscure club team from Netherlands or Germany. Maybe it's expecting too much or hoping for something they can't provide (us) but the July/ early August fare usually seems to disappoint. Not only that, we often lose / fail to win games against opposition highlighted.

Home away kit launch, is it really necessary to change the damn design each and every other season. Families can't always afford particularly with clear rise in prices but there's always going to be someone just looking to line their pocket without proper consideration of others. Have to vehemently advocate the removal of the pink away design, it's just not us. Use orange or white as once before. Anything but the other.

Transfer window opportunity in a few weeks should be exciting. There's a whole lot of players here right now that seem surplus and while the Championship league will be arguably easier for us than the top level there still needs certain players through the exit and ones that can come in particularly in specific areas of the field than can not necessarily repeat a second place finish as before but collectively can provide the chance to make it back or finish in one of the top six promotion chance positions. Guess some will be then complaining they don't want to be part of the Premier League or we shouldn't be in it but what the hell, what can you do.

Hard to believe the season starts Aug. 8th! Really am looking forward to the Championship challenge again!

I’m with you Saint, nix the pink strip (no pun intended)!

The kit is an interesting debate. I personally don’t think a time has to buy it - yes kids might want the newest kit but if they can’t have it they have to learn that’s life and the reasons why. I won’t go into a rant about that!

I agree it’s expensive though! I don’t mind it being changed annually but the price is high.

Although could afford a new kit annually I just choose not to, I’ve still got a league one kit and even that was on a half price sale, I just like it and it does the job. I’ll get the new kit only if I like it, I wanted a premier league kit this year but I didn’t like the design so didn’t bother.
I’ve got a lot of the training gear as I’ve bought it on the clearance sales and it’s great for the gym.

I think /hope they’ll remove the stripes this year on the home kit and give us a brighter colour away kit again, the orange one I agree was very nice.

Yep, too soon. I’d personally welcome the AFL & NFL approach. 7 months before season starts again. 👍 Totally understand it’s due to the physicality of their respective games, but still……, makes you look forward to it again.

Can only speak for myself obviously, but I can 100% “wait” until the new season.

Didn't they imagine a winter break for the British leagues at some time or another. Four weeks without play around December or something but nothing came of it. It's just idle talk, anyone could see it was unlikely to be implemented but not to say it's never going to be a possibility.

Two months summer break between domestic action seems too short. Best advice here, make the most of it and enjoy the respite. Some don't need "football" thrown at them 24 hours a day 7 days a week and this represents a rare chance to get away from it. Add to that, no (real) international tournaments also (this year) so essentially you got a soccer free summer or at least for as long as it lasts. Some can grab such an opportunity and welcome it.

July 19th - Town vs Blau-Weiß Linz (A) - pre season friendly. Now added, our first announced friendly - suspect another one will be announced soon and nearby to the Austria one.
