What are you listening to?

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

I was there too! Didn't go in until after the final whistle in Athens (was watching in a pub across the road) so missed the first two songs. Found it a bit difficult to get straight in to the right mood after Liverpool lost and as I obviously didn't know the new songs they were playing. But it didn't take that long. I thought some of the new stuff sounded pretty epic (especially the one played second from last). No danger of them trying to do a Springsteen or sounding like ELO on the second album, anyway! Sounded to me like there'll be more songs that remind me of a cross between Joy Division and the Skids - which'll do me nicely! And I thought they played the songs from their first album (which I love) really well. What did you make of it?

I thought it was a really good gig even though as you say we didn't know any of the new songs. The song second from last is the new single Smokers Outside The Hospital Doors, was amazing to hear it live after listening to it on myspace a few times. I'm glad they played You Are Fading, one of my favourite songs which isn't on the album, though it's on the cuttings disc which was released with the first album.

As Jonno said to me last night it's good that they haven't changed their sound for the second album, they have just carried on where they left off from The Back Room.

We missed the first support band, the second support were nothing special so you didn't miss a lot.

Got a few videos on my phone, will try and upload them on youtube later.

God I miss the Drum and Monkey. It's such a good venue from a DIY punk/hardcore promoter's point of view.

The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins.

Its a classical work - a mass for Peace.

I don't normally go for this sort of thing but it has caught my imagination.

Not really sure how to describe it but one quote I have seen says this

'If you like the soundtrack to the Mission then this should press all the right buttons'
