A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

Just a complete aside, I see Barry on an almost daily basis as he is the Director of Football at my boys school.
Nice guy, but still fiercely competitive.
Could you thank him from me for
that strike in '94 when you see him next. I've seen it on re-runs more times than care to remember and still to this day don't understand how he accomplished it. Horne wasn't exactly renowned for feats of such nature.
Someone put a new round up also

We thought you'd given up, Saint.
Another question:
1/ I was born in 1946
2/ I made my senior debut in 1962 as a 16 year old against Utrecht
3/ I played 223 times for my first club
4/ I (unbelievably) did not play for my country.

It's too obscure to provide a definitive response. Gemmill was with Forest in '78 I'm almost sure of it so that rules that name out.
Go with Willie Henderson but probably incorrect

I was born in the mid 30s.
I only ever played for 2 league clubs.
I managed 5 clubs and I would say I was good at it.
I scored only 23 less goals than matches I played in league football.

Jimmy Melia perhaps, thought about Tom Docherty and Malcolm Allison
Then started thinking (Brian) Clough of all people, he was a very good player with Middlesbrough and scored a goal just about every game he featured in. Don't know for sure but Melia or Clough is a decent bet so I'll shoot for the latter on this one. No surprise if incorrect

We'll play along one more time
#1 I was born at the dawn of a new decade
#2 I am one of my nations most recognized names
#3 I missed the biggest event my industry can offer by being injured the day before proper competition
#4 I was part of a high-profile partnership at domestic level with one of the games greatest names
#5 My domestic involvement was more successful than at international level

Shouldn't really disclose the profession of the individual in question at such a premature stage, but since you asked, no it is not a Tennis personality - It is a soccer player
#6 I was part of a rivalry that was not far detached from Ipswch and Norwich
#7 My main era of involvement was the 1980s
#8 I have played on two different continents
#9 I have been voted sportsman on the year by my respective nation

No it is not Lineker
10th and final clue that should hopefully prove conclusive
#10 I have a name that sounds very much like a world capital

Been a long time since I took in a Geography lesson but guessing Brazil and York are
not any World Capitals
All the other names are incorrect also. Maybe we should concentrate on clues 1 - 9 and leave out the other from here on.
Sorry if that appeared sarcastic, it wasn't meant to be. Just trying to point people in the right direction and eradicate any errors.

I was thinking on the line of Brasilia which is the capital of Brazil

Which would have fitted in with Q10 a name that sounds like a capital

Yes that is the capital of Brazil (guessing in Portugese) but it didn't fit in with the initial response provided. Never mind we're probably looking at things in two different ways. Do you have any defense for York incidentally.
Look, this is going nowhere - along with a great many other things - so to keep this short this is in fact a past player from Brazil you look for. There, we've narrowed it down to one nation, it should be a giveaway at this stage.
Don't forget to use the other clues before jumping in, that's what they're for.

The clue says that his name "sounds" like a Capital City. Does this mean that it rhymes with the capital city? Apologies for asking but I'm lost on this question.

well I was thinking of York, the capital of that little known country just south of China. found by that great explorer the Duke of York and his 10,000 men, last seen marching up this hill on the north side of the country. some say he marched them down again and some say he didn't, although the myth says he did actually march them half way down or half way up,
anyway who cares, am I right.

He didn't have 10,000 men, Wolfie. According to Scottish comedian jack Docherty, he marched up there with 10,000 pints of lager, then was violently sick!
