What are you listening to?

A place to chat about anything thats not football related. Most of the threads in here are completely pointless which is why people keep coming back and back. As the forum title suggests, feel free to make any post you want on any subject you wish. It also has Adult jokes (so be warned) which is the other reason people keep coming back.

You ain't wrong there, Ohio.

Only a month ago, was helping a good friend install his new kitchen....., his 20 year old daughter is a major metal fan, goes to all the rock festivals etc.
I said, "What about Metallica though, when are they going to release new stuff? Death Magnetic was 2008."
She said, "What you talking about, they released "Hardwired for Destruction" last September!"

Thanks to Amy, because I would never have known. And yes, Atlas, Rise is arguably the best track on that album. It's a cracking album isn't it?

Oh yeah, the ditched the sell out orchestra/ballad stuff and went old school on it!

Loving it

And give his daughter a \^^/ on the right hand for me! Ask her if she is a Beartooth fan.

Tell you what, buddy, I really enjoyed that. Both the video and the song. (Posted it below) Had never heard of 21 Pilots before but I've since checked out some other music by them. Very good indeed.

Tell you what Marko, Josh Dun is one of the best drummers I have seen in a while.

This was the last show of their tour which has been going on for over a year. Check out the Reading Festival from last August, Tyler the singer gets his shirt ripped off by the crowd. Anyway, these two are from Columbus. I actually saw Josh at a local mall about two years ago (he stands out) and I could tell something was going on with him, but it was before they got big and I didnt know who he was. They ended the world tour with what was supposed to be three small venues here in the city where they got their start. One was the basement which holds 300, and they lost a battle of the bands there four years ago. The next was LP Pavilion/Express Live and third was Newport where they were discovered. All three sold out in 10 minutes. They then added Nationwide Arena and the Schottenstein arena for a 5 day straight finale to the tour. We lucked out and got tickets.

Here is the LP Pavilion/Express Live show, 3 days before I saw them

I'll set aside some time and watch that. Watched the first two songs. Do they attract a much younger audience? I'm guessing if I attended a gig , I'd be the grandad in the audience!

Your Mrs is into the music too??? Aw man, thats a bonus!

I made the mistake of asking the Mrs to attend an Iron Maiden gig a few years back. She agreed to go and actually enjoyed it. (Or so she told me!) BUT, at a price. A few months later she said, "I got us Will Young tickets!" FK SAKE! That was an endurance.

But as far as she knows, I loved it! :D

Apologies for hijacking this thread but just came across this

https://makeyourowntaste.com/2015/03/10 ... 60s-vol-1/

As an old man I find my musical taste struggling to escape from the late 60s / early 70s. I have 9 of the 10 albums listed and love them all, some perhaps more than others. They are very much of their time however.

The exception is the first one as my musical prejudices are so bad that I wouldn't allow a Bee Gees album in my house, in much the same way that my political bias means that I would use physical violence to prevent anyone bringing the Daily Mail through my door.

Did you follow prog through the 70's, Andy? Early Genesis with Gabriel? Early Yes?

A very much underrated album by Genesis was the last one with Peter Gabriel, "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway". What a classic album that is.

On that top 10 list, apart from the Bee Gees, I've only heard of King Crimson and Kaleidoscope.

How many on that eclectic list have played Glastonbury recently? Step forward Barry Gibb, last living Bee Gee, whose cameo performance last week - I'm Still Stayin' Alive- was received with genuine love and appreciation.

Would have included two albums that both changed the whole music scene in those far off days, and whose impact is still shaping today's R$B acts: Jimi Hendrix. 'Are You Experienced', and Cream - 'Disraeli Gears'. The latter being the first true Supergroup, and influencing all 'heavy' bands that followed into the 70s/80s.

Was lucky enough to have seen a number of those on the list live - a couple, Fairports and Pdntangle, before they achieved fame.

Saw the sadly late, Jack Bruce @ the Fife Aid rock festival back in '88, supporting special guests Runrig, and headliners Marillion. He was absolutely brilliant. Totally rocked the place.

Great, great bass player, blues/jazz man and vocalist/composer. Lived locally - have met his son. Was at the Cream reunion concert at the Albert Hall - and their original farewell appearance there. Around 40+ years apart!

Don't be afraid to hijack this thread Andy, the more the merrier.

I actually like a lot of 70s music, everything from ABBA to Kiss. I just grew up in the teen years with Iron Maiden, the Crue, Van Halen, etc.

Good to hear Barry Gibb is still out there herforder. The Bee Gees were IT in the mid 70s for sure. Also should tip the hat to Slade, another influencing band for the heavies of the 80s as it were. Run Runaway was always a fun song, and that came out in '84

KROKUS!!!!

Great stuff, Ohio.

First heard them on a Kerrang! compilation album in 85. Pretty sure they also supported a band in the 80's here in the UK but didn't manage to get along to see them.

Been in a Maiden mood this week. Got all their stuff on a shuffle at work. Dougie the electrician today: "What a fkn racket! Any chance o' turning that shyte off?"

I air guitared and head banged for 30 seconds in his face…….., but then put the radio on! He's 64. Respect and all that.

Old bstd! :D

MAIDEN!!!

Well, now I am back at their Rock God altar again.

Dougie deserved it. 64 years old, and calling them racket? For f*ck sake, hold the Barry Manilow pops!

To be more accurate, he actually used the Scottish word for noise -----> "din"

Walks in, "What a fkn din!"

Only people over 83 use the word din. Nice one, Dougie!

Reluctantly listening to the complete (but very rich) bellend that is Springsteen doing that incredibly shitty version of "Santa coming to town"...... complete with that laughing sh*t at the end. Think he was trying to do an Elvis Presley and failing miserably. But he is stinking rich so must be doing something right.

Stop playing it though, Radio Two.

Fk off "Boss".

Ugh, I can't stand Springsteen. And if they ever play that STUPID "Last Christmas" song by George Michaels again, I may puke

Stick with the classics. Oh Holy Night, What Child is This, Silent Night, Little Drummer Boy. All good
