Paul B - Advice please!!

Am i right in thinking that you are the green kepper? Well theres a job going which is when i leave school that will be the green kepper on the local golf course and will be taught on the job and learn all the aspects of it! And i aint sure if i should go for it! Question time

1.) IS it boring? just cutting grass?
2.) Is it good money?
3.) Is it crap in the winter when raining and horrible?
4.) Do you enjoy it? and would you advice it?

Any advice would be appreciated

dont know what the money's like but you'll

1.get your own tractor

2.play golf for free

3.watch all the young woman swinging in the summer

4. and one of them might let you play a round with them

5.never be short on balls

6.get a great suntan in the summer

7.get balls aimed at you as you trundle along in your tractor

8.get plenty fresh air

9.hear swear words you never knew exsisted

ps. watch out for falling in bunkers

Hi DD,

Thistle has covered it all! LOL! Beware of bunkers especially!

Greenkeeping isn't boring as there are always a wide variety of jobs to be done throughout the year. You are never doing the same job for long. In addition to mowing you could be landscaping, working on bunkers, cutting down trees, building fences, etc. etc.

The money isn't too bad, but depends on which golf course you are at, and what qualifications you gain. You get more money if you do NVQ Level 2 in Sportsturf.

It is a bit crappy in winter when its wet and cold, but you have to take the rough with the smooth and for much of the spring, summer and autumn it can be lovely. We're fortunate in that East Anglia is the driest part of the UK!

I do enjoy it, and I would advise it yes. Especially if you're looking for a relatively easy and stress free life...but at the same time the options are there for you to progress to become course managers, which can earn up to Ã‚Â£40,000 a year!
