What was the first Town game you ever attended?
Sadly, mine was only recently, away at Leicester early Janurary 2010. Loved every minute, the game finished 1-1.
Interestingly it was the only game played at all that weekend due to some of the worst weather the UK had seen in years

Plymouth v Town 88/89 i think, John Duncan days (shudders)
Ended 1-1, Sergei Baltacha coming off the bench and looking a class above
First home game was Town 3 Brighton 1, sending them down and we picked up the Championship trophy, i think im right in saying it was the last game with terracing at PR, a great day out never to be forgotten.

Did that end 1-1? If so that's the first one I remember although I couldn't be sure that was my first.itfc76trev wrote:Ipswich v camb utd when they had John beck in charge of them early 90ies

First Town game was at PR, and ended 2-0 to Norwich. 98 or 99 season maybe. Fabian Wilnis had a howler of a game, was at fault for both City goals.

Ipswich vs Crewe Alexandra in 2004 at Portman Road. Yes, the game that we won 6-4, not a bad way to start!

Town vs Derby County - night match in 1969!
We lost to a Kevin Hector goal late in the game scored at the NS end...followed by streams of "IZEL" clear toliet roll sailing over my head toward the pitch being thrown by North Standers from the back of the stand lol
as I kid I stood down the front of the stand leaning against the wall.

Re: What was the first Town game you ever attended?
I chose not to look at it that way! There was a 2-3 year gap between that and my next game though, I believe it was against Sunderland in 2006 which happened to be one of Roy Keane's first games in charge and we won 3-0 I think...The Don wrote:Terrible way to start. If you have another 2-3 year break, you can enjoy us grinding out a result against Bishops Stortford.

Re: What was the first Town game you ever attended?
Far to long ago to be 100% sure but my best guess would be v Sheffield Wednesday in 1958. This is the first 1st Team game I can remember going to but may have been earlier. I certainly went to Portman Road earlier for Reserve Team matches but I think this was my first season watching the 1st Team.

Think it was Southampton at home in Feb 1995. Not very memorable apart from that we won. Then I saw us in the cup against blackburn the next season, think I remember Alan Shearer scoring.

I remember that one as I was there - cracking game, cracking atmosphere - night game, over 26,000 in PR. Not often I get to home games of an evening, but I managed to wangle a meeting in Southend on the daylucy wrote:2004/2005 season. We beat Rotherham 4-3 at home i think it was.
